Was the gas cap loose?? If it was disconnect your battery for a few minutes, and it should go away.
If it comes back, its something else that a trip to the dealer will solve.

most of the time it's a faulty O2 sensor in the exhaust. Many manufacturers as well as Acura have issues with their O2 sensors. For some reason, the sensor will test the Oxygen levels in the exhaust, and if it finds the levels elevated, the light will illuminate. I can't be certain without seeing the car, but chances are this is what's causing it. I would in any event take a trip to the dealer and let them resolve the issue. They simply plug the car into a computer and run diagnostics. Within 5 min they'll let you know what the problem is

dude,

i had this problem... oh boy...

1. It might be the whole catalytic converter and O2 sensor.

2. Go to a dealer if you got the warranty and have them check it. They plug computer in and check stupid codes.

3. In my case, i had the thing lit for 2 months. After that it went away. I don't know what to tell you. Dealership said that my cat went and i need $600 for cat, $250 for sensors, and another 250 for labor.

4. Basically, if you got the warranty have them check it. If not drive until your inspection.

my car has 107k, 99tl

Wait.. a friend just had a cat replaced on a 10 year old Honda.. for free, as it's an emissions thing, it had lifetime warrenty, like seatbelts.

ok then maybe it's not the O2 sensor. Who knows, the problem with these check engine lights coming on is, you never know the severity of the problem. The light may come on because your engine is about to seize into little bits, but then on another occassion, the light may come on if your O2 sensor is faulty, or even less then that, your gas cap is loose???

doesn't make sense to me. They should have a Check Engine "Be Worried" light, and a check engine "Ignore this, it's total bull sh*t" light!!!!

well wutever the case is, took it into Pasadena Acura, i advise all members who live around there not to take it there cuz it's small and they got me a rent a car.... CAVALIER!!! WOO WOO!!!

so im assuming i should know the problem today or tomorrow, i will let u guys know for reference as to wut it is... btw, the emissions light is the light above the VSA light on the speedometer, actually under it where the other warning lights are... i think non-TL-S's dont have VSA so it's the light shaped in a weird squarish shape... but anyway... thas it for now

Really? My coworker suggested I take my car into Pasadena Acura for service. Other than the crappy rental, let me know how good their work is/how well they treated you/etc... My first service is coming up soon. Thanks.

wanker: they are quite good... they told me that they were full til monday but i got a call this morning and picked it up... evidently, my vacuum hose was twisted and stuck or something so they fixed that and that is that. look up manny, he is a great guy, didnt even have to take the rental back to enterprise or fill th tank, he just took the keys, helped put my golf clubs back in my car and that was it. besides the crappy rental i recommend pasadena acura to all!
