Post Emergency!!!!

Hey guys, this is an emergency. my car is stuck at a parking lot right now cause it won't start. i tried jumping it but it's not the battery. The radio, headlights, etc work, but the engine is acting totally weird. It doesn't even make the grinding noise. So i'm asking you guys if you know what's wrong.

i would check to see if your green light is flashing on your dashboard(which is the immobilizer light) if it is lit for some reason or another the car will not start and the keys must be reprogrammed

i am thinking something possibly with immobilizer i would bring your other keys and see if any of them work. i would check to see if green key light is flashing when you put key in ignition and try to start

You guys aren't listening to him. IT'S 97....

1) Try starting the car in neutral.

2) Shift through all the gears, then try to start the car in either park or neutral.

3) Put the car in neutral, push it a few feet, then try to start it.

Sounds like the alternator or starter because it happened to my old Accord.

BTW, any car can be put into neutral to push.

Does your starter turn when you try to start it?

if the starter turns but engine is not catching, maybe its not getting gas. Could be fuel pump, fuel filter, or injection. (does the 97 have an on board computer that controls the fuel injection? )

otherwise, if water has gotten into the engine it may not start either.

If you dont hear a magnet clank down and there is no grinding noise and the electronics seem to be alive....then it MUST be the starter motor...costs maybe 200 or so I think...you definetly need that towed....just call AAA or Acura Roadside Assistance...Gook Luck!

It's been raining here for the past few days so maybe like haha98 said, it might be the electric starter. Does anyone know if warrenty or anything cover this? or would i have to dish it out of my own pocket. And should i take it to the acura dealer or to a local mechanic? thanks for all the replies.

you have a 97TL right? hmmm i think you don't have any warrantly left. Sorry dude you probably have to pay yourself. But don't worry i doubt it's a major problem, maybe you only have to replace your spark plug... best luck to you.

Hey guys, thanks for all the suggestions and the ideas. Took it into the mechanic today and fianlly found out what the problem was. It was a simple fuse that blew. Apparently it was when i was installin the spoiler and while i was installing the LED lights, it blew the fuse for the brake lights. This in turn affected the starting mechanisms which prevented my car from starting. So our solution was to unhook the spoiler's LED and put in a new fuse. The mechanic told me that the electric starters are not suppose to wear out till 15 years or something. Well just wanted to give you guys an update on the status of my car and thanks.
