EBC rear pads--yes, I tried searching

This subject has probably been beaten to death but, here goes. Do all four rear EBC pads need to have the nipples shaved off when using the shims, or just the pad that contacts the caliper piston?

I tried searching endlessly but I couldn't find a specific answer.

Thanks for any help in advance.

If I recall correctly, I think we shaved off all to make sure the shims fit preoperly, or else they dont sit flush like they should.

Thanks guys.

I have another question though, on the box for the pads it states:

"NOTES FOR INSTALLING MECHANICS: These brake pads are not fitted with original anti-rattle shims. Please DO NOT attempt to fit shims from worn pads onto these units which will cause an overthickness situation resulting in pad drag"

Does this mean that I shouldn't use shims at all? If I don't use shims would I have to grind the tabs off? or should I grind the tabs off in either case?

If you dont shave the nipples off I thought it doesnt fit are sit in the caliper correctly. Its like on an angle due those nubs preventing it being straight. I had it on for a day like that and then took them off and shaved them so they sit flush for peace of mind, but I guess if peopel are saying it doesnt matter, then mabye it doesn't matter?

I had to shave them off on my Hawk HP Plus pads. The tab was hitting the piston and the pad was consequently being applied at an angle. And without the shims, the pads were too loose, casuing them to shifit around and squeal.
