easy intake resonantor mod

I finally removed my second intake resonantor the one connected to the intake hose. I took off the bucket looking resonantor and put a very tightly fiting piece of rubber about 1.5 inches tall and just a little bit bigger than the opening of the intake. It took a good 3-4minutes to get the rubber piece in there but it's tight and I took my car for a run and v-tec it about 7-8 times and the piece didn't budge. Seems like it shouldn't get blown out from the air pressure passing over it. So all is good. My car sounds deep and mean now. Sounds a lot like an AEM CAI, but not quite as loud, but very close I think. At WOT it is awesome, there is the obvious low hum at idel, but not bad at all. I love it.

yeah i took my big assed box resonator off last night and it sounds mean at WOT i recomend going this if you guys want a intake sound but dont want to spend the money it's kind of hard unless you have a lift because you had to remove the front bumper to get to it the easiest otherwise put it on the lift and you can just work from the bottom!

It's not hard at all without a lift. Pop the clips out, remove the screws, and the bumper slides right off.

Well, unless you're afraid to lay on the ground and stick your hands underneath...then it's extremely difficult

haha well im saying it's easier with the lift because then you wont have to remove the front bumper, just a step you wont have to do (=

How can you remove it without removing the bumper? The only other way I know is removing the wheel, removing the wheel well, and wiggling it out....which is a HUGE hassle compared to a few clips and 2 screws.

The intake resonator you guys are talking about isn't the one I am talking about. Taking off the bumper takes 10mins and taking off resonantor take 2mins and putting bumper back on takes 5 mins, so it's like 17-20 minutes tops to complete not too hard. I took that resonantor off last week, I tookm the one off in the engine bay underneath the stock intake hose and replaced that tubby waste of space with a rubber piece that fits almost flush with the intake hose. You can see it slightly, but is helps air flow and gives an even meaner sound than just removing the 7 or 8 gallon tub that's connected to the bottom of the airbox. I'll tell you my car does feel more responsive and my butt dyno seems to keep telling me there was some gain even if only 1-2 HP. I know most don't beleive there can be a gain, but I can't see how there couldn't be especially with a K&N filter!

taking off the front bumper takes all of 3 minutes and makes the job alot easier and costs ALOT less than a hoist

yes there is a low hum at idle. I actually like it, not annoying at all. I swear my car feels a little quicker. I just can't believe that by removing both resnonators that my car ins't generating any more power? It's breathing better now and getting colder air, it should create a little more power, albeit 1-2 HP. I can;t see how a CAI would generate anymore power. I have K&N filter like I said.
