e brake
e brake
hello, i have a 2000 and i sometimes forget to take off my e brake and drive with it. i sometimes have driven for 5 minutes before i noticed. is there something wrong with my e brake? it doesnt seem to hold like my other cars in the past. has any1 else noticed this?
well, ever since i got the car it never resisted driving with the e brake on. and the rest of my cars wouldnt even let me drive with the e brake on at all. so i need to replace my rear pads then?
Most unlikely its your pads, maibe you dont kik that e-brake low enough so it doesnt cause much resistance. hell, I hit my e-brake at 70mph with threadless rubber, and trust me, it does hold up.

it's not a mod it's the way the brakes are designed. I'm sure you can switch from drums to discs, but not sure what all that would involve.
Disc brakes are disc that the pads squeeze from both sides to stop the car (think of the brakes on a bicycle)
Drum brakes are like a big dounut. The shoes are located on the inside of a rotating cylinder. When you press on teh brakes, the shoes push out from the inside of the cylinder to stop the car.
That may not make much sense to you, so let the experts explain it: http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/tec...7/article.html

When you drive with your E-Brake on..you're wearing down your pads x100. That's why it doesn't hold..
