ok i'm driving along the freeway going at about 80 when a i notice the other two cars in front of me brake simultaneously. I was wondering what the heck" until i see the cop on the other side of the freeway. so naturally i brake too. no big deal, and i keep driving.

minutes later that same cop is behind me flashin and blinkin like a maniac telling me to pull over down a hill on the CA 62 with NO SHOULDER. But he keeps being fanatic and i pull off on the 4 feet of sand on the side.

this guy tells me he's not going to give me a ticket for speeding (probably cause he can't) but he's like "oh i notice you have tinting material on ur windows). i say yes and he asks me to roll up my front two windows. I got 5% all around, which is NOT uncommon in PALM SPRINGS and he writes me a frickin fix it ticket.

dude, its going to cost me 60 bucks to rip off the tint, show it to some cop to sign the ticket, and then imma gonna put the tint RIGHT BACK ON...

CMON ITS THE FRICKIN DESERT ITS LIKE 110 DEGREES IN THE SHADE!!!! no fines or points or anything just another 60 bucks out the window for a victimless annoying law.

anyhow, b4 i go do this thing, anyone know any cops in kali that'll hook me up and sign this thing???

That is pretty fuc*ed up that he pulled you over just for that, however, is 5% tint illegal? 'Cause if it is... then that's probably why you got the fix-it ticket. Regardless if it's common or not... you're leaving yourself open for situations like this when the cops are looking to fill their monthly quota by handing out tickets.....

Yeah it sucks getting pulled over only for illegal tint but hey, you have to accept the risks when putting on 5% tint on your front windows. Whining about it ain't gonna change the fact that you knowingly broke the law.

THe same thing happend to me.........it's a pain in the ass. Currently i have 2 more fix it tickets for no front plate and clear turn sigs......

yea but i think he pulled me over to impress some kid on a ride along... cause while i was in the car there some 16 yr old kid in the passenger seat of the cop car..

Anyways, damn you guys have fix it tickets all the time huh? I got a ticket for my tint and i just paid the fine. $84 bucks, not bad at all. I got a ticket while i was rolling through this small Texas town. Every time i go through it now i roll down all my windows.

5% tint is illegal in any state and on any car, unless you have a licensed limo business. I don't understand why you are so upset, cops are a-holes, and thats what they do best. Showing off or not, I had limo tint and got pulled over for it and the cop was a big jerk without having somebody as a ride along. Whether its a desert or not, limo tint is ILLEGAL. And there is a very good reason why there are such "victimless" laws in our country. It's for the safety of the cops. Approaching a car with limo tint is very dangerous for police safety, because you never know who or what is inside. They didn't create tint laws to just piss people off, they did it to keep cops safe when pulling people over.

i got a ticket for window tint went down to the acura dealer test drove a new tl put my plates on it went to the police dept got the ticket signed off brought the car back

you know.. ive been pulled over 3 times so far... all for no front license plate. all i do is keep showing them the same ticket.. then they just let me go. but what is funny is all of them will comment on my car. usually about the tint. im pretty dark all over.. 20% if remember correctly. but whats cool, is that most of the cops that i ran into think that its a stupid law. and they all tell me that they have all their windows tinted.

That's why I always drive around with my front windows down. Or if it's really cold then I crack the moon roof to allow light inside while leaving the front windows up. And if the radar goes off, I will automatically put the windows down, even if it's 20 degrees!:wow: IOW, just use common sense.

BTW, I have 20% tints all around.

I have my wife's CR-V limo tinted on 7 windows and the pass and drivers windows are at 20%. We've never been pulled over for it and I have the front windows removed and reapplied every two years during inspection time. in NJ - no tint is legal on the front two windows.

dude its dangerous walking down the street. its about 4x as dangerous to simply get into a moving vehicle than it is for a cop to go to a tinted car.
its dangerous to be a fricken 19 yr old marine in a country where cops give you annoying tickets while your gearing up to deploy to the middle east.

the way i figure it, i live in twentynine palms, its hot, its the desert. i put tint on. leave me alone..... i've got bigger problems than worrying about scrapin tint off glass...

I live in Palm Desert and have had 6% on back and 20% up front since Jan 02 on my 02 TL-S. I also never put on my front plate. I haven't ever been cited for either. I got warned when I had my 99 accord and had 2 layers of 5% on the back and 10% up front. The cop told me that next time he saw me it would be a fix-it, but the new fix-it's here in California are $80.00 fine + fix-it. The shop that tinted my TL-S say some days a CHiPer will just wait down the street and pull people over as they leave the shop!

yea i just went to the dealer and test drov a tl that was the same color as mine, went to the closest police dept and all i had to do was show them that the tint was off the windows. i left them all half rolled down so he could see that there was no tint and he looked at it from across the street. (i put my plate on the back of the car a couple blocks away by the way). it will probably be harder to do now since acura stoped making the tl in laguna green

Damn that sucks. I've gotten away from so many tickets already. Most of the cops out here are a$$holes. Especially to the rick rockets and to the young people driving a nice car.
