I use old, but carefully inspected, bath towels. But if one hits the ground it either gets thrown away or put back in the wash.

California water blade and a MICROFIBER towell. The microfiber towells pick up water three times as well as a chamios. Plus you can use them on other things like Windows. They give off no lint, perfect for windows. Try it you`ll be convenced! The day after I tryed it I went out and bought 20 of them. Don`t buy them in the auto section, to expensive. Walmart towell section sells them for 5$ for two nice size ones. Happy hunting!

I use a California Water Blade ($7.00 @ Wal-M*rt) to remove most of the water, then dry the car with 2 Simoniz drying cloths. I used a gadget similar to the blade called EZ-DRI - sort of like a squeegee with a soft silicone blad but that's worn out after ten years.

If you're drying in the sun, do the side where the sun shines first so you don't get spots. Best is to dry in the shade. Use an older drying rag for the rims and the door sills and running boards.

Noone uses water to dry ? This works really well if you have a decent coat of sealant or wax on the car. Take off the hose nozzle and turn on the hose. With the free flowing water, start at the top of the hood (windshield), move the hose down and let the water sheeth off. It will leave a few areas with water but not as much as a final rinse.
Then I finish with a Micro Fiber Waffle Weave and smaller 16x16 MFs for the smaller areas.
