Driving on a broken axle

Axle broke yesterday and i was wondering how long i can ride on it.

I already have the new one, i just dont want to replace the axle, to take it all apart in two weeks because im doing my swap.

Should i stop driving the car? or can i ride it for 2 weeks?

is it only popping when you turn? if so, don't turn!

you should be fine though - just don't drive the shit out of it until the new axle is in.

define broken. like really/violently shaking on acceleration, or barely? if its out of its socket i wouldnt, that can detach, hit the road, and cause more damage.

doesnt happen during turning. it goes away when i turn, shaked bad under acceleration over 3-4k rpm, stops shaking when i let off the gas.

its really cool when something thats a critical part- like the driveshafts of a fwd car- completely shatters and falls to the ground
Sometimes it catapults the car into a rollover
Other times it drops the front corner on the ground and you scrape to a stop

Now phee, you have done so much in a short time- an hours worth of your time today will prevent major damage tomorrow--IMO

If you mean the cv boot is broken and you can see how much grease has come out, you can probably ease it thru 2 weeks

shake on accel is often the inner bearing-
the outer is the one you hear click click click in tight slow speed turn test

general tip for anyone who gets a shake without explanantion-
stop revving it over 3000-4000!!!

baby it --below 2500, to get off the road safely,, until you can inspect and repair as needed

i have a weird shake on acceleration ive been trying to diagnose... its on acceleration between 40-50 mph... i replaced the front wheel bearing and it disappeared for about a week then it came back... any clue's 01tl4tl... im pretty stumped and since i already took it to a shop to do the wheel bearings im guessing they would have noticed broken axles/cv boots and let me know about it... i know my rotors are warped pretty bad, and am waiting for my legend calipers to get here before i do the brakes, but the rotors should have absolutely nothing to do with the shake on acceleration... would be alot easier to fix anything in that area while the rotors and what not come off...

** no intention to thread jack phee, thought same symptoms...might be same problem**

no intention to jack thread also but i get a shake during acceleration but then around
45-50 mph it goes away is this a broken axle or what. its also noted that i installed coilovers and front/rear camber kits and i havent gotten the alignment so im wondering if thats it.

ok- the cars that have been dropped and not aligned- get that done first- will solve many problems as the tires are currently pointed outwards! and trying to split the car in half

Other cars with accell vibe may have inner cv bearing failure

If you TOLD the shop to replace a certain part- thats ALL they did!

If you ask them to diagnose a noise, they do-- then tell you how much to fix it.

Replacement of the cv axle assembly is the easiest cheapest way to do it

Have it checked by a honda/acura specialty shop (not aamco meineke type places), or a trans and axle shop in your town
Look in the phone book

Yes, I know,, you think a shop would look over the car for you- making sure everything is ok,,, maybe make some money...but they dont
For the simple fact that many employees are lazy

you'll be fine, my friend drove on his axle till the boots were pretty much gone. people generally freak out, but unless youre driving through sand and its getting into the bearings, theres not too much to worry about.

just dont drive it like youre autox and you'll be good.

trust me, ive been through axles like no tomorrow lol.

This is just plain stupid and unsafe information. If you know you have a axle problem stop driving it and get it fixed. It can tear apart bearings and your trans and worse case cause an accident.

i wasnt stating to never replace them, but its nothing to immediately park your car and not drive over.

as long as its on your to do list in the near future its good
