drivers side mirror no longer tilts in reverse

anyone else had this problem. wife's car, 03 t/l-s, 23k, recently drove it and when backing from driveway noticed mirror no longer tilts downward when car placed into reverse. made sure selector switch was in off position like manual says. oh well another item for dealer to look at tomorrow when they replace 3rd brake light for rattling against rear window.

I'm not sure if you're having a problem or not because you stated
"driver's side mirror".....the driver's side mirror does not tilt in reverse ... it is the side mirror on the passenger side that tilts ... sorry if that didn't help ... just trying to clarify things

Do all years/trims have this feature? I don't seem to remember my car having this, or at least it doesn't work.

I have an 02 type S... only the passenger side. I read it in the manual and that is how it has worked since day 1.

yeah UNFOURTUNATLY only the pass mirror tilts....you know...not sure if you guys are familiar with the Valentine One detector upgrade feature where you send it back to V1 and they upgrade it....acura should have the same system...you take your car in, and they put all these new 04 tl features in yours.....not everything would be possible to upgrade, but most of the time small shit like that is useful, shit.

I doubt a car marker is going to do that, because it's hardware base, not just software. You need to add motors etc to get some of these featueres. Also it defeats the purpose of you upgrading to a newer model. wishful thinking tho.

okay listen up guys, for those of you who think your mirror doesnt tilt in reverse , youre probably just mistaken. i thought mine didnt work a while back. The problem is , the switch on the driver's side door that positions the mirrioes has to be in the middle in order for the mirror to go down. if it doesn't work then , then i dont know what to tell you. Let me know if i helped.

But the heading of the thread was about the DRIVER's side mirror.

In the middle position both of my side mirrors used to come down. Now only the passenger side works. I remember the salesperson demonstrating this feature.

Is it possible a few models had something that made both mirrors tilt?

The owner's manual states that only the passenger side mirror tilts down in reverse. Mine's an '03, and the driver side mirror never had the tilt feature.

If you really wanted it, and no one else drives your car, then you can program the No.2 driver's memory position with the driver side mirror tilted down, while keeping everything else the same; then just press No.2 on the selector before backing up -- the only downside to this is that you will have to be in Park first.
