Driver side HID bulb just went out!

I found a dealer direct one from ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ACURA...ehicleQ5fParts

but i saw someone who found this:

http://www.hidextra.com/HID+Bulbs/D2...nt+(PAIR).html

would the non-factory one have to same look and brightness of the dealer one?

but will they be the same brightness as the stock bulbs?

I don't want to buy them and then have them look dimmer or give a different type of light output than the stock ones.

They will look like stock but you will get a better light output. Check CJITTY'S thread about his HID fogs. He has Phillips bulbs I believe so you will be able to see the difference in the pictures.

good catch Tailored!
that listing is for ONE bulb- and you need to replace bulbs in PAIRS or the color and brightness will be way off,, as the bulbs age they change

New bulbs need to be `burned in` to reach max brightness and stabilize color
Takes about 50-100 HOURS of use, so drive with your lights on all the time for a month or 2- doesnt hurt to drive with them on all the time--help other drivers see you coming
The TL is a low profile car and certain darker colors like grey are the same color as the road! Anything to alert others is good IMO

yea well of course im gonna buy two, ill just change the quantity when i buy it. The guy has 10 available.

and also, i just noticed that my High beam bulb is also out on the same bulb. And i noticed some condensation on the headlight lens.

Im hoping there isn't another problem with the headlight. The turn signal works.

Both the HID and the high beam worked a few days ago, so im not sure. I just noticed the HID yesterday and tested the high beam today and noticed that. would appreciate any help or ideas from anyone.

This is a 2003 TL.

^well after hearing that, you need to check your harness for water, and any fried pins, also check your fuses for your headlights, it may be just a step by step where you passenger bulbs will go out soon due to a possible short, i'd check that with a volt meter before you start buyin bulbs

If its got moisture inside the housing- its likely popped the bulb
You need to remove the bumper cover and headlight housing to check for water damage on the ballst
That moisture drips down the glass and out a vent hole, and right onto an expensive electrical part
frying it.
You will need to reseal or replace the headlight housing so no moisture gets into the new bulb

If in doubt of bulb death- swap them left to right and you will know
With the high beam out now and moisture,,-do some checking before ordering anything

if u have condensation in ur headlight thats a bad sign....it doesnt matter how many new bulbs u buy they will end up goin out due to the moisture built up...my HID fog bulb exploded in the housing the last time we had a shit load of rain and i think water got into it somehow....

I just put in the Kaixen 5000k bulbs and they look VERY nice. I had 155000 miles and 10 years on the stock ones. they were starting to take a bit longer to settle into full brightness and had a slight purple tint to them so I decided to replace them before I was stuck in the dark.
the new ones start up immediately and have a very nice slight blue hue to them, compared to my old ones there is much more usable light. they look like a new projector light.

drive with the lights on all the time for the next few months- or all the time just for safety
The new bulbs need about 50-100 hours of use to stabilize and `burn in`to max brightness, and color will stabilze and get better too
average life oe bulbs, 2500 hours- kaixen 3500!

so first i should get it checked out at a body shop right? I already have the bulbs. I got the Philips D2R bulbs from Ebay. I'll just hold up on the installation until i find out what the real problem is, because the high-beam bulb also went out at the same time the HID did. So i might need to fix the headlight housing first.

Just out of curiosity, why replace in pairs ? Is it becuase you will get uneven brightness or are you assuming the other will burn out soon ? Or is there another reason ?

on mine, i don't know how or when it went out. I just turned the lights on one night, and noticed the driver side was out. it was wierd. My TL does have 101,000 miles on it, so i would assume the bulb was either at the end of its life, or the condensation killed it. Because both the HID and HighBeam went out around the same time. and the condensation was near the HID and high beam area.
