Dripping

Here is the problem guys, when I take my car through the car wash water seems to leak through the cowl and to behind my dash. Is there a common problem with the second gen tl's or is this something serious that I need to get checked out? It is very annoying but it only happens when I run it through the car wash. Thanks in advance.

thats not normal. You need to figure out where its coming from before the water does damage.

Umm, I suggest you not to take it to the car wash anymore untill you don't figure out where the problem is.

The drain for where the cowling picks up intake air for the hvac is probably clogged.

I'm not familar with the 2nd gen, but the air intake's got to be in the space between the hood and the windshield. Look for leaves or other debris.

i did but the hole to be a bit too small for my hand. i dont have large hands either. but ill try and disassemble the cowl, hope i dont break anything, and check for what might be causing the leak.

you will have to remove the windshield wiper arms, then remove the plastic guard. clean out every thing trapped under there (the intake side is on the passenger side) look for drain holes and stuff make sure they are free and clear.

Do you happen to have your AC running when this happens?

I had the same problem with my last SUV where passenger side would get wet after a car wash or a heavy rain. The drain holes in the moon roof were in the front of the opening.

Open the sun roof and look at the channel on the hood side. Mine were clogged, but you could not tell just by looking at it. On that SUV, the water from the drain holes would run down the A-pillars, so if it was clogged, it would wet the floor of the passenger side. I ran a 5 foot length of 18-gauge wire down the hole all the way down to where it ran to the bottom, and moved it around for a bit. Problem solved.
