For 1999-2001 CD is 0.32. I don't know if the nose job on the 2002-2003 changes that CD.

Just go to Acura's website and request a brochure. I remember seeing that number in there but don't remember what it was.

dunno what they did at toyota .. but those nissan dudes actually redid the bottom of the car to 'direct' airflow so that there'd be a lower drag coefficient. now THAT's some dedication

but seriously, the TL does have a too hight drag coefficient. i was drivin on the freeway today from palm springs to LA, and was going around 120, trying to hit 130, however i could feel that the drag was there holding your car back, so it took me a while to go from 120 to 130.

wilz...according to the the age of TL...it was consider fairly low at that time...(1999)

also honda isn't very into developing the drag coefficient for their cars...but i guess they are working on it now coz nissan has joined into this competition along with the already so gd toyota...they ahve been working on this for such a while...look at the old lexus LS400 it only had 0.28 at that time...

so honda better start now...

That's not entirely true I think. Because when I had my 88 Accord and one of their selling points was low Cd, it's 0.28. Mainly because it's hidden pop-up light. It made the front slicker I guess.

right... I think honda was more concerned with other issues than a TL going 140+ mph.

i hope they will do that for the 04 model...but 03...nope sorrie...still same to 99 but an improved side mirror...

consider a porsche 911 has the same drag as the TL...that's not too bad eh?

Hmmm, I wonder if anyone here has done this before with their TL...all of the cart & F1 race cars that this big metal piece underneath the car that completely covers the undercarriage in order to reduce the drag...anyone know what I'm referring to?
I think this would reduce the CD for our TL, but this would put a lot more weight on our cars. Would this be a good mod?

That would be ideal, but I don't think our TL has room to bolt on those under carriage panels like Ferrari or G35. Also, I don't think it will help a lot, cuz the outter skin is the same. If it has drag, it has drag. Unless there's drastic change to the body.

no...coz that wouldn't give u too much improvement....

putting kits and spoilers will increase the drag too...it's just for the downforce only

Frontal area is important. So is a flat underbody. You want to design your car like a teardrop. Sideview mirrors are important too.

I remember the Cd for 99-01 TL was 0.31.... 02-03 shouldn't be much differ though.... 0.30 at best...

Lexus LS400 was and still has(LS430) the lowest Cd of any passenger car.... LS400s has Cd of 0.28, and LS430 has Cd of 0.26....

EDIT: Oops... I made a typo... LS430 actually has Cd of 0.25, not 0.26...

spoiler will increase the drag by 0.1 or 2...
coz it creates a downforce and not letting the car lift...

CD defined?

I always assumed CD was relative to the actual frontal area (i.e., .31 = 31% of a box). Is this incorrect? If so, it would explain why cars with lower/smaller frontal area don't automatically have lower CD but still have less actual drag.

They don't just put a flat piece of metal under the car. There is more to it than that.

All we need is more power, though. The Viper (not the newly remodeled) had a CD of .50.
