Door Speaker Amps

I have got a quick question here, on the 2000 TL's does each door speaker have an amp? I was told by a CarToys person that they'd have to run new wire to each speaker if I had an aftermarket HU put in. Is this true or are the speakers power by the stock HU amp? j/w

hes full of it. you can add a aftermarket HU to the car. all you need is a wiring harness from a 99-02 accord. you will however loose the factory sub with out some kind of special wiring or aftermarket amp to power it due to the accord doesnt have a sub and most aftermarket HU's dont have wires for subs other than rca's

What a douche bag...he said the reason that they had to do that is because each speaker has its own amp and by hooking the aftermarket HU up to it, you'd be amplying an amp and would eventually cause the speakers (and possibly) your HU to fry. What about an adaptor kit so that my DIN HU will fit in the slot?

the factory amp in the TL is in the headunit. and by getting a wireharness you bypass teh factory eq. as for a kit to pu the HU in metra makes one. part # 99-7868
