I have been asking questions and reading threads about these damned door pillars forever now. Well, I finally found some time to go by the dealership and ask them about them. They wanted $89 EACH for the damned pillars. Now I was reading some thread where someone said their stealership only wanted $39 a piece for them but my local one where I bought the car wanted 89$ each and then $37 to replace the tape just on the back right hand door.
So I decided to take it to a body shop and see how much it would cost to get the pillars painted. All they wanted was $100 to paint all four of them. I heard that and it made me skeptical for a minute but I found out through word of mouth that they are the best body shop around so I will be taking my car into them next week to have that done.
I also asked them how much it would cost to take the black tape on the doors that has bubbled up off and paint that as well and he said that to piant that it would cost $200. So I suppose I am just going to get the tape from the dealership and have the body shop paint the pillars. I just thought I would tell everyone my experiences today.
The Dealership I am referring to is: Dan Vaden of Brunswick, Georgia

I got some cleaning chemical called FW1 that not only acts like a wax for the whole car, but it did wonders on the pillars. It's not like new, but it' much better. It is also a great chemical if you want to wash your car in the cold without getting wet and such. You can get it at http://quantumraceteam.com/. It may not be as good as you hope (I don't know how much money you'd like to spend), but it's worth a try. It's 15.99 a can and I got 3.5 washes out of one can. It does a great job of waxing too. I washed my car and than used this chemical, my towel was black because this lifts the dirt right off of the car. (I'm not an advertiser I just am enthusiastic about a chemical that saved me $100). You might have to call them at 781-376-1400 or email them at sales@quantumraceteam.com to order. The only one I can find to buy on line is a 12 can case for a $100. I've bought a single can before so I know it's possible.

this is what they look like now... I was telling my dad about the body shop thing and he told me that if I took them off tonight and brought them up to our marina tomorrow that he would have them painted the same time that the outboard motors on out new boat got painted so maybe I won't have to pay for them now... I figured I would see how the paint turned out with my dad first then if I don't like the finished product I will just take them straight to the body shop and get them done right... I will keep everyone updated with pics and info.

here is pictures of my pillars after they got sprayed today... since we got them sprayed at our marina and not at the body shop it was done outside so there is a little debris in one or two of them but the guy told me to just take some 1500 grit sandpaper and wetsand it then buff it out with some scratch-x or something similar... anyways here are the pics:

actually, me knowing absolutly nothing about painting and shit did all the prepping... all I did was sand them down with a piece of 1200 grit sandpaper and wipe them off with acetone and then wipe them off again with a rag and then he sprayed them 3 times.... he said he called the first time he sprayed it the filler, the second the base and the third he called the wet layer... dunno shit about what he was talking about but that is what he said... I am going to sand them down again and buff them back out as soon as they are completely dry in about 2-3 days.... until then I am driving around without any pillars on my car.. I hope it doesn't rain any time soon...

The CF pillars are ok, but not great... Im just not happy that its not clear coated and the edges aren't rounded, I really wouldn't even want to sell them I dont think. Its nothing more then cut out flat uncoated CF.
Nothing to write home about.
