Thumbs down Door Ding Repair

Ive seen the pros charge around $50-150 for this type of service. I have two pretty decent dings in my rear door and am wondering how easy it is to remove myself. Is it easy to get the door panels off, and try to 'thumb it' back out? Anyone try this, or should I just say Duff it and spend the loot?

For $50, you can't go wrong in letting them do it. They probably have some special method/tool that you don't, and for $50...just let them do it.

And now some company is selling one of those DIY painless dent remover kits, complete with the suction-cup dent puller tool; I don't remember the name but I saw it on TV the other day. Mail-order, of course...

No mail order, no DIY, no nothing. It's cheap and easy and quick....let the pros do it.

I get my dents out this way about twice a year and the door(s) look near perfect.

DO NOT TRY TO DO IT YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!! You will end up making it look worse. I watched one of those dent removal pros take out a door ding from a shopping car that hit my car. Its all in the wrist. He had about 100 different spoon shaped tools that he looked through to pick out just the right one. And then he slipped it into the door down from the top with the window up (like you would do with a slim jim) and the he gently twists his wrist over and over again. the first 20 or so twists nothing seemed to happen and i was like 'man, this is bogus'... then all of a sudden right in front of my eyes the dent slowly started to disappear. It was magic. I was floored. BTW, i got the name of the dent removal guy through a local Mercedes Benz dealer. That is always a good source for a quality referral.

I saw the infomercial for that suction dent removal tool on tv a few days ago too. The advertisement looked pretty good and I was about to call in and buy it even though I dont have any dings or dents. Then I realized I had no use for it. I cant remember the name though. I wonder if anyone has the name of it now.

I say leave it to the pros too. I watched a guy take out dents out of my car, and it's definitely more an art than a science.

I just watched that infomercial this past week. Looked pretty good. Hopefully I will never have to buy it or take my car to the shop.

The pros will do the best

my friend tried to fix it by himself, but ended up buying a new fender.

DAAAYYYUUMM, I had 4 dents and a bad scratch taken out today by DENT-TEK. All pretty small dents, but all for $99. Very Nice job, he said all future dings would run $25 to fix!
