Don't Buy Michelin MXV4 Tires!
Don't Buy Michelin MXV4 Tires!
Just wanted to warn others with a second generation TL to stay away from the Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires. The tread pattern on this tire is terrible and the car will wobble at high speeds. Also I feel that these tires are really overpriced. Stick with the Yokohama Avid Envigors. They are cheaper and surprisingly better than the Michelins. So for once I guess you don't get what you pay for...
Get your wheels balanced? Check for other causes of wobble?
I have these and no wobble. They're great in the rain and a lot less noisy than the stock rubber.

uhh that is the stock rubber -- or was for the 01 vintages
now renamed primacy,,
I was getting a flat fixed yesterday and heard conversation of older gentleman-customer, demand the same tires as were stock ,,mxv, which are discontinued,
and didnt want to hear about other brands, didnt believe the primacy was the new mxv,,was overly concerned about aspect ratio changing speedo readout
going from a 65 to 60 profile lol
OE is rarely the best stuff made--its what the car maker can get a deal on a million of for cheap
get this, I'm on Brahma brand now for the fronts- partner of continental, same as general --
from americas tire, total cost per tire was under $150 with mounting, lifetime roadforce balance, taxes and fees yadayada,,plus the free flat repair was handy,
picked up a screw dead center across the tread,,finally,, one not on the edge of the sidewall!!

I'm on my second set of Primacys. Got over 60K on the first, and there was still 5/32" left.
Quiet, smooth, nary an issue. At all speeds.
The older MXV4 was reported to be loud, and maybe not suited to all cars,
according to tirerack [if memory serves . . . ]
Surre you didn't get some leftovers, returns, or rejects?

or maybe you finally got the bad parts replaced that was causing the problem but use what ever excuse you like for why it's the tires.

OE tires were great, just cost a bit too much for me. I think they are close to 160 each without mounting and taxes at Costco. Got less mileage on my current tires, but considering the cost of the tires, I expected as much.
