Does your car ever want to stall while your driving?
Does your car ever want to stall while your driving?
I have about 11,000 miles on my car and sometimes when I'm driving the RPM's fall dramatically and it feels like my car is trying to stall while driving. Anyone else experience this??
It happens to me once in a while only when coming to stops at a light. The RPMs dip around or just below 500, but then they come back up to just under 1k and everything is fine.
It happens every once in a while.. but really only started happening this winter. Wonder if it's a cold thing....

Yeah, mine has been doing it alittle more frenquently now. The rpm would dip below 500 and I can feel the engine working hard to get it back up to around 800. It hasn't died on me yet but I always feel like it's going to one of these days.

I just broke 1000 miles not to long ago. Been noticing the drop to 500 rpm from time to time at stop lights. I thought it was the cold. That and the harder shifting when the cars been only running for a few minutes. This morning was a whopping 12 degrees on my gauge.
I get this same problem--but only on cold days. It happened last winter and this winter but I don't recall it ever happening durning the summer or on warm winter days (Texas weather)...

And I live in Florida, it is usually hot here all the time.
I think its the very cold weather for some of us.
I am having the same exact problem as juniorbean with my 2000TL. Since the temps have been way below 32 degrees here in D.C. it takes the car longer to get to normal operating temp. When I got in the car the other day it was 15 degrees outside.
I started off after a few min & drove slow when I stoped at a redlight the car was vibrating a little bit. It acted like it wanted to cut off & the RPM needle would go up & down a little. It did this about 4 times when I had to stop at redlights & when I got a newspaper. After I drove about 3 miles in the city I had to stop at another light but this time the car was running like normal. The night before this it was around 22 outside & I was at a meeting for over 5hours. This meeting was less than 10 city blocks from my house. I am sure the car did not have time to warm up going or comming back home before I shut it off that might have had a little to do with it also. I think its just taking longer to warm up in the temps we are having. My car gets to normal operating temp much faster even when its 25 degrees outside. The temps this week have been 15 or lower that not normal here. I can go less than a mile in 25 degress & the car is almost normal operating temp but it took almost 3 miles the other day at temps of 15.

That's the first time in 20k miles it's done that - but then again we are having a very cold winter (cold for FL). It was about 30-32 degrees when I was driving.
this happened in my lexus gs4 also.
it is nothing to worry about: i figured what the problem is.
either the oxygen sensor may get a wrong input momentarily and therefore rpms will drop. the car will struggle to bring it back up, and it does shake. this has never happened in the TL, but it is something that is normal i guess. unless it keeps happening, it is just a sensor that isnt error proof causing it.
