I ran my 99TL on 87 Rot gut for 2 years and it performed fine. No problems at all. (Now, on my TL-S, it's always 93!

Loving my 08 TLS!
It is recommended to take 91 and up octane. But you can use regular, but I wouldn't because my TLS deserve the best.

yup, premium fuel for the tl-s because it has a higher compression ratio then the tl-p (10.5:1 vs. 9.8:1).

What I want to know is, why can't I find a 91 octane pump? I have seen 87, 89, 93 , 94, but no 91! Where are you guys getting the 91 from?

I don't know about where you live but out here the octane isn't regulated as well as other states. I talked with a guy who mixes racing fuel for some of the local clubs. The octane is always over stated. For instance Arco gas and BP (same truck has been seen fueling both stations) he has distilled 1 quart of water out of 1 gallon of gas, you might as well try running your car on sewage. Every car I drive gets premium, and my sports vehicles usually get an octane boost as well.

I'm using 94 from now on ! It runs excellent ! I don't know if anybody else experienced this but after my initial "break-in", about 1500 kms, my car seems to run faster and smoother. Anyone similar ?

People always ask this question, and I don't understand how you could consider running with a lower octane. Consider this, you put on 20,000 miles a year and average 20mph. On average, premium is $.20 more per gallon then regular. Over the course of a year, it would cost you $200 more to run premium. Chances are you are putting on less miles and getting better mpg. If you can't afford the $200 in your $30,000 car, you shouldn't be driving it.
