the side mirror has a defrozer, if that's what you meant. and no heated winshield wiper nozzles, and no heated door locks. where do you live?? it's that cold??!

and no, our mirrors can't fold in. the japan honda inspire can, but they lose the defrozer.

Okay...I have a feeling this guy is one of "those" again....but I can always be wrong.it doesn't hurt to ask.

We only have heated side mirrors, and no it doesn't fold in. Only the ones in Japan, but I think they lose the heated mirror feature.

and I seriously haven't seen a car that has heated door locks & nozzles

Yes..You can manually fold in the mirrors....inward and outward(to an extent)

But in Japan, it is electronic.

You can't ask for more from a $30,000+ car. You get a quality car for this price. Can't be too picky

Heated mirrors = yes.
Heated windshield = no.
Heated wiper nozzles = no, but the nozzles are hidden under the lip of the hood, so they don't freeze.
Heated door locks = no, but we have remote keyless entry.
Folding mirrors = yes, they can be folded in by hand, but not electrically.

Now that would be nice! I wonder why Acura didn't design a wheel heater receptacle and then sold the heated wheels like they do the wooden wheels.

But I'm not complaining... I drove a plastic-wheeled Accord before I had the TL. Talk about freezing! I finally gave in and bought a leather wrap for it and I appreciated the difference it made.

Jettas and Audiis have heated windshield nozzles. I'm not quite sure what heated door locks would heat up and why. You mean they would literally heat up the area where you put the key in? If so, then how can you turn on the heat, if you cant get in the car? As for the fold in mirrors, I just did it today while I was washing my car...but manually of course.

Heated locks

My M3 had them - a small electric element keeps the tumblers tumbling.

I think this is useful only where one gets a lot of rain, then a mild freeze, or lots of freezing rain. I lived in Hamburg, Germany, where the rain gets nasty.

I think this is a "German" thing. As are the nozzles.

Can you say gloves? Hey guys just in case you didn't know the other day i bought leather thinsulate gloves for $20. If you want to know where to get these new age inventions give me an email. If you are extra cold I am sure that you would look cute in some mittens, they use body heat. Some people are never happy.

mbeebe:

1) Can you say "thermal underwear"? (In case you never use the seat warmers)
2) Can you say "free weights"?(In case you never use the power steering)
3) Can you say "stick your head out the window"? (...Moonroof)
4) Can you say "Discman"? (....Bose CD system)

Luxuries are just that...niceties we can certainly live without but choose not to.

BTW, I love heated wheels. When I was in college in NH, I had an old VW Bug with a metal wheel, and when it got 15 below zero, your hands could freeze to the wheel. I even designed a contact ring feeding heating elements in the wheel and sent it to VW of A, and got a nice call from an engineer that they would do it but it would raise the price of the car "beyond the target demographic". Damned accounts and product planners!

I grew up in Canada, where the winters are colder than a witche's tit, and you never heard anyone complain that their cars locks weren't heated!!!

BMW and Mercedes had this feature in most of their higher lines since the mid-90's. The idea was to keep your locks from freezing so you would be able to open the door with the keys. Having had locks freeze up on my '81 Chevy Caprice one winter I can say it's a real bi@tch. The only "field" solution is to hold a lighter to your key and get it nice and hot and then put it into the lock, hoping to melt whatever is frozen in there. Repeat ad infinitum until you get the door open.

However, heated locks were implemented in the day when remote keyless entry was an even rarer option. Now that almost every car comes with keyless entry, heated locks are kind of useless, as it only keeps the tumblers inside the actual door lock from freezing and does nothing for the mechanism inside the door (which is what the remote keyless system activates).

Also, word to the wise--use your key every now and then in both your driver and passenger door locks. They can freeze up mechanically from lack of use (not due to cold weather) and someday if your battery dies in your remote you'll have a heck of a time getting into your car.

I recall someone mentioning that his trunk keyhole was completely gunked up since he always used his electric trunk opener (remote or driver's door).

Good thing the 2000+ models have no keyholes in the trunk now.
