does SS mode....
no- if you full throttle it in D5 it will run right up to redline in every lower gear (not 5th)
It will wear out your pants pocket from removing your wallet more often
Its easy to forget its in 4th not 5th on the freeway- wasting gas, and in traffic you will usually rev higher than the computer- D4 in traffic and hills will eliminate it trying to go in and out of overdrive
enjoy you car- its built for fun
Use the brakes to slow down and SS to be in the right gear for exiting the corner
dont use the trans as a brake system- that wears it big time

ss is a semi manual shift so you can shift it whatever you want except from 1 to 2; but to shift it properly, 20mph should be in 2nd gear, 30mph, should be in 3rd gear, 40mph in 4th gear, and 50+ in 5th gear. And if you drive it in this normal shifting, then you'd rather put it in automatic, unless you just want to see how it feels.
Its for having fun
Take a High Performance Track Day school in the TL at most race courses for $250- you get a real race driver riding shotgun teaching you about braking, turn in, apex, accellerate, exit berm- straight-away full throttle, entry point, brake, turn in, full throttle, repeat as needed
Then you will know what SS is for
You can even try to downshift at to high a speed- the computer says NO and the dash light for the requested gear flashes, then stays in the next higher gear- cant over rev- nice safety feature in the automatics
