Angry Do you think ...

that our cars are more prone to chips due to lowering it with comptech springs?

I think I've got a chip on the hood near the grill area, not sure if its an actual chip or dried up dirt. Just found out this morning before I drove to work You would wonder how the hell a rock get up there, then again thats what i've said repeatedly when they hit my windshield a couple of times! Scares the crap outta me everytime I hear cracks in front of me! I don't drive conservatively but still this **** shouldn't happen, I'm pissed, more unsatisfied.

It never happened in the past when I was driving my POS Isuzu Rodeo and Nissan Quest! Yeah I know they are not cars, but ... I'm not *****ing about chips, i know its just a matter of time, judging from the looks of the front bumper. I was just curious and put my hand under the front lip? Sure enough it was all scatched up. Not sure if this is normal since this is my first car. But I'm worried if I get a body kit, that it will tear apart Maybe I should have gotten a Lexus instead since most people are saying their paint is much stronger then ours.

So, if I do have a chip on the hood, what can I do? Sorry in advance if this subject has been beaten to death already. I think I'm gonna have to repaint the car after a few years *cries* Either that or drive only 60mph and watch everyone pass my sorry @$$!

Thanks for reading and letting me vent

Absolutely, lower means closer to ground means rocks and crap have less of an angle to travel.

Best way to repair them, besides taking your car to a body shop is to:
1) clean the area with rubbing alcohol
2) Remove any loose paint with a pin
3) Clean again
4) Use a sharpened wooden match stick or a pointing toothpick to dab a small amount of paint into the chip
5) Let dryu completely
6) Repeat 5 & 6 until chip is filled

thats why on a highway, or rough surfaces

never get near any truck, vans, 4x4, suvs, any huge vehicles either slow down or pass em, they cause trouble in many circumstances. trucks most likely!
and start to slow down farther away from other cars once there is gravel or rocky roads.

jersey is just worst from salt rocks during the winter, thas the only things that scratch up my bumper.
all other seasons just ducking from bugs(and bird crap).

thanks NSX, i'll try rubbing alcohol. it'll be a nightmare if i have to look at the chip hood every frigging morning! So should i still get the kit? I really want one but i think my driving style is just gonna tear it apart I drive from Brooklyn to Long Island taking the belt parkway to Southern State to Meadowbrooks. And they are always fvcking repairing the roads on Belt Parkway when they are in good condition! Can't they spend our tax money or whatever it is on something more useful? It looks as if they repair section A, then go on to B, and comes back to section A to rip it up again and repair, etc Anyway, i know most people installed the kit and lowered their cars with comptech springs. But does it prevent you to drive faster? I'm already driving a lil slower due to the poor roads in NYC I just don't want to get a kit to look nice and drive under 60mph. Maybe I should get one to avoid tickets and hang with the slow folks? NOT!

I live in NY also and I agree most of the roads are horrible. The construction process makes it worse because they tear up the roads and the gravel and rocks are just laying around. Avoid driving behind SUV's, trucks semi's. I use the bra on my car to prevent chips.

I have some many chips on my car and it's so high up like an suv...so can't be just lowered cars...I guess the ratio of it is higher with lowered cars then...

It's gonna happen, but you can minimize chips by not tailgating as mentioned before.
