Smile Do you find driving your TL orgasmic?

Yeah, been loving my car lately. Since I got the new tires the car has been a lot more responsive. I mean, it's not exactly nimble or anything, but I don't really expect that from a 3600lb. sedan. Still, there's really nothing quite like getting behind that wheel and effortlessly cruisin' around the 'hood... Just sharing one of life's simple pleasures...

Yeah i do find that driving my car is such a good feeling. Especially when im driving it at night with cool weather after i just washed it that afternoon, you know, just feelin fresh as a Mother Fucker. Basically i just love everything bout our TL's and when im driving it, i really do enjoy the car for all its worth.

Yeah, I really like it when my car's clean, too. Right now she's running the best she's ever run since I've owned her. My goal now is just to keep her this way. I've got about 73K on her right now and I'm thinking I should be able to get a good 150K on her before the inevitable decline sets in. Does this sound reasonable?

I think thats about right cuz HONDA ENGINE are designed so well that they last way into the 100k miles range. But i would imagine that after 150K miles the performance of that engine just isnt going to be the same as when it used to have 50K on it. So yeah, 150K and up is when its going to start to really wear away.

Yeah, I figure stuff like struts and so forth are going to get a little tired by 150K. I know these things can be replaced, but by then it becomes a question of diminishing returns as to how much to invest in the car... For as much as I drive, that's only a few years away...

OH man, I put over 300,000 on my Honda Accord 91 EX and it still ran like it did when I first bought it. The guys at the Honda Acura Garage here in Asheville were always amazed at how well it ran. Burned about 1/2 Qt. or less of oil every 3K. It was a great car=sure the Acura will go as long. Guess I'll have to wait a few years to find out eh?

Luke7, I've got an 03 TL-S. Just bought the Yoko Avid V4S. Now that they're balanced and I've had a chance to fine tune the air pressure, the car is handling much better.........300,000 Wow, that's great! Hope my car is still tight and smooth with half that many...

IT will be, if you don't beat it and do the maintanance. Change oil/plugs/thermostat etc. Had to have the valves adjusted on the Accord every 15k and did. Changed timing belt, v-belts, oil and that was about it. It really did run fantastic for the mileage. No one believed it had that many miles on it. OH and it never leaked a drop of anything in the my garage. Truly a wonderful car. But HMMMM, the TL is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better~!

That's good to hear. I'm pretty good about keeping up with the maintenance, but I don't do any of it myself because I'm mental when it comes to all things mechanical...

What, a valve adjustment every 15k miles?? That's a bit odd.

Not odd at all. The old Accord 4 bangers needed regular adjustment. Recommended every 15K. I never miss doing it and was told that's why the engine still ran strong (like new) at 300,000k. Whenever I had the valves adjusted, the car ran quieter and better. Also changed the Tranny fluid every 10,000 miles. 2 and 1/2 Qts. out and 2 and 1/2 in. Trans. still worked well at 255,000 miles on it. Never used Honda Trans. fluid. CASTROL dextron/mercron III. Buck 79 a quart. Cost me a whole $5.00 to change it. I hit a road hazard and had to have the trans. replaced. Knocked off the back of the housing on it hitting a metal plate that fell off a semi. OH, and I didn't drive it like a little old lady either. Lot of highway miles, but still the car just RAN And RAN And RAN. Prelude SI 1986 before that had 299,999 on it when I sold it to my neighbor. They put 20k more on it before it died. Those 2 cars had engines that lasted as does the TL. You don't hear of hardly any internal problems with our Acura Engines=And that's a good thing!

Orgasmic is not the word. There is no word to describe it. I've got an 05TL and I'm at 19500 miles ( got the car Dec 20, 2004) getting ready for a 1500 mile trip over Thanksgiving, and then THE meet in London Ontario.

Ah, I see. I just don't hear too often of valve adjustments being needed every 15k. But I guess that did the trick!

i have to agree here as well. i upgraded to my TLS almost 8m ago from a 300m, which i did love but it wasn't really a performance handling type car the way the TLS is and now i just purchased some Falkens that arrived yesterday, cant wait to put them on and see how she responds. i currently have conti extremes and they are great tires but they definitely needed changing and i really didnt have the extra $$$ to invest into them.

yeah I have to agree after driving my 02 TL-S since Nov 2001 and accumulating 263,424 kilometres (165K miles) I still love the ride and handling (after all my mods) I don't know if I'd say orgasmic but pretty close, the only problem is that for the next 4 to 5 months I have to drive on snow tires

I never felt my TL was orgasmic. It was always the redheaded stepchild of my garage, playing second fiddle to an NSX or an M3. I sold my 2004 TL after two years and 45000 miles.

The TL is a great value, but as a high-powered, nose-heavy FWD, it lacks in overall feel and handling when compared to the best RWD competition, let alone a purpose-built sports car.

For the average person, however, I can see how the TL's overall attributes and quality could get them excited when compared to its competitors or the 'average' car, whatever that means.

um... what doesn't play second fiddle to an NSX or an M3? Secondly, aren't those cars, by definition, orgasmic and, therefore, sucha statement does not discard the notion that the TL could be, particularly when recently polished and detailed, orgasmic. Perhps driving an NSX would be like riding Petra Nemcova and driving our TL's might be like mounting Fergi of the Black Eyed Peas? Niether is something to be less then excited about.

I found my TL-P to be a blissful ride yet I always lusted after the S. Sure, I would drop my S in a second for an m5 or a new 645 convertible but I think even my Acura would understand.

so, yeah, I think our TL's are an amazing balance and can be orgasmic to cruise around in.

I think I qualified and explained my statements fairly well, and I certainly emphasized that my opinion was the result of the other vehicle in my garage.

I am not saying that other people can't find it orgasmic, only that I did not. And since this thread asked the question I thought I would offer my perspective.

When you are used to Petri on special occasions, but don't mind Fergi on a daily basis, Fergi isn't going to get lavished with high praise like 'orgasmic'. Which is not to say I could pull either woman, even in an NSX.

Clearly, there's no shortage of twits in this world.
The thread was going nicely as people were sharing their joy of owning/driving a fine automobile but some high-prancing prick couldn't help it. The idiot has to stick it to us and say someone has it better. I'm sure sooner or later life's gonna dish this braggart what it deserves.

High-prancing prick?

Thanks for the laugh this morning.

Ask yourself why your joy of ownership is so fragile that a contrary view forces you to resort to petty insults. I enjoyed my TL very much, but orgasmic is not the word I would use. I have said what I have to say. Enjoy your holiday.
