Do Headers Put Stress On The Transmission???
Sup guys...I've been thinking about getting Comptech headers for my TL-P. Just was wondering....considering all the reported transmission problems concerning the TL....I wanted to know if anyone could tell me if adding the Comptech headers can put any additional stress on my TL's transmission???
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all those who reply.

No ..
the headers will not put more stress on your tranny in a manner in which they'll induce a tranny failure similar to the ones I have experienced, as well as many many CL and TL members also have.
Up until 5000 rpms.. there is virtually NO additional pwr that the headers gain you .. therefore they cannot possibly contribute to a greater tranny wear than the stock exhaust manifolds.. however, after 5000rpms, there is up to 30 hp put down to the wheels (more like 20hp realistically) . .thus, one could argue that if you stayed in the upper pwr band for a great amoutn of time, yeah, you'll mess w/ your tranny...but you'd also be screwing your tranny if you did that w/ your stock manifolds..
Just get the headers.. they won't mess w/ the tranny. Plus, dealers are usually very good about replacing the tranny under warranty w/ light modding (like headers, intake, exhaust) .. they don't consider intake and exhaust mods to seriously contribute to tranny wear and tear.
Just don't abuse your car, keep servicing your car at the same acura dealership, establish a good working relationship w/ the service tech/manager.. and you'll be fine to mod your car.

I disagree with Mr. Ubers but still agree in the long run...
Point is, the headers really won't make enough difference to cause it to go. If it is predisposed, it is predisposed.
My dealer replaced my tranny (as many others have) post header install and never said two words about it...

The short answer is yes, the headers will produce more torque and hence put stress on the transmission.
However, as others have said, this is WELL WITHIN the normal operating range of a transmission that is free of defect.
So the only caveat would be if you have a non-mod friendly dealer.

Also remember that the tranny from the tl-p is the same as the tl-s so it was made to handle some more power. Adding intake, headers and exhaust will in no way put any additional strain on the tranny when the tl-s is making more power and torque throughout the rpm range. Do it and have fun, juts dont beat on the car. By the way modded or not if the tranny is gonna go its gonna go.
