Yesterday I saw a black CL parked by my college with chrome stock rims from far away I thought it was TL-S rims but they weren't. I didn't like the look at all.

Just go to your local Acura Dealer they can set you up with a shop that dips wheels. Dealership will have car's with stock chrome wheels on display as a dealer installed options all the time.

i think the proper way to dip a wheel is to first dip it into a bath of copper ions, then a bath of nickel ions, and finally a bath of chrome. i believe this is the standard process and is called triple chromed. now i also heard of more layers than three, so i guess it's getting more baths of chrome. i think it's a pretty high maintenance item and i'd hate to get chips. there is also the issue of chrome looking like it's black. and if poorly done, then the chrome layer can bubble and chip/peel away. i also think if the wheel design is thick, then the chrome can look "heavy". if the spokes are thin, then i think it would look pretty nice.

I know a person that can get yur chrome wheels dipped. I think he charges about 250 per wheel. The good thing about it is that u dont have to wait days to get it. Once u give him your order he gets u the chrome wheels and u just give him the factory wheels once u installed the chrome ones on the car.

But BronxTL, didnt u buy chrome wheels the other day. I remember u looking for a shop to buy some wheels. Or maybe my mind playing tricks on me

O yeah if "chrome wheels" chip its likely that the whells osnt really chrome. Its like some sort of technology chrome. Or a better way to explain may be to say its like jewelery. You have gold then u have "gold plating." Gold doesnt change color, but the gold plating starts to fade. So u definately would have to make sure ypu are getting "chrome" not "chrome plating" if u understand what i mean. Im gonna call my guy tomorrow and ask him what they call that chrome plating stuff. If i remember

I think I recall all chrome wheels being casted and then chromed...none are made of "full chrome" unlike gold jewelry and so forth. So in a sense, they are all "plated".

what he said. If you want some shine and have it last, get polished rims. You can even pay somebody to polish your rims. Downside of that is that you have to keep them up by polishing them every once in a while. When chrome gets dirty you just wash them and it's easy. However, you can have chrome chip if say you hit a curb or something. With polished rims you would just polish them up(cept for dents of course). I've had both kinds of rims and they both have their plus and minuses.

In some ways thats true but there is some sort of replica crome out there. Call wheelmax and ask them whatthe ADR X-Factor is made of....you'll see :p
