Ding Ding Ding - How to disable Headlight On reminder

Does anyone know how to silence the audible reminder that warns you that your lights are on when you get out of your car?

It is pointless and becoming rather annoying since we have auto-off lights...

They won't auto-off if the door is open, and the car won't ding ding ding if the door is closed, so, I don't see the problem..

Thanks in advance

Right, if you leave your lights on and get out, the lights turn off after so many seconds. Since they are going to shut off automatically, what is the point in the dinging reminder?

Maybe the honda/acura engineers are the type of people who wear both belts and suspenders?

just because all cars do, then u blame all the manufacturers???

i don't see any car that doesn't have a ding ding if u leave them on.

TSX and MDX got auto mode so you don't have to worry

I know plenty of cars that don't have the dinging. Why? Because the headlights shutoff automatically. The dinging really isn't necessary.

I'm fairly certain my mom's '99 Avalon doesn't. The headlights are always auto-off. If the engine is off, the headlights turn off as soon as you open the driver's side door. Auto-mode simply turns the headlights on/off depending on the ambient lighting.

My sisters' infiniti and bmw have an extra option for 'Auto' on the headlight control arm. The difference between that and just 'On' is no ding-ding and of course, the auto off feature.

Our cars don't have that 'auto' thing, so unless you cut some wires, doubt you can get rid of it. Personally I don't think it's too annoying... I am used to turning off the headlights when I get outta the car anyway.

1. Leave the headlights on.
2. Open the car door.
3. Listen for the sound.
4. Trace the sound to the device making the noise
5. Remove or cut the wire supplying power to device making the noise.
