Differences Between 99-01 02-03 No one ever knew??

Why is it that the 99-01 have a plastic cover along side the interior pillars attached to the winshield, while the 02-03 have a fabric lining??

The 99-01 have winshield water nozzels while the 02-03 hidden?

02 Type-S doesnt have perforated leather on the doors but 03 does??

Anyone ever noticed these things??

^^ in reference to number 1 i know what he means. the A pillars in the 02-03 are wrapped in the same fabric as the headliner, while the 99-01 is a hard plastic material. as to why thats different i dont know.

Aspec was Canada only, so yes all the rest had brown or black 'wood' trim

Its not that different, the seats are flatter with far less bolstering and no perforations in the leather. Gauges are black with white lettering, standard leather shiftknob.

Here's an example of the seat:

Heres another one I don't know if it was just me that spotted this or if anyone ever noticed,

The P,R,N,D5,D4,D3,2,1 lights on the gauge cluster seem to be of a smaller font on the 02's and 03's.

Changes in general that are hard to spot from 99-01 to 02-03

1999-2002 Floor Mats are stamped "ACURA"

2003 is stamped "3.2TL"

CD case changed into jewelry case for 2002-2003

"A" emblem on trunk is bigger on 2002-03's.

Auto Dimming side view mirrors on 02-03 with tilt in reverse. (correct me if wrong)

Memory seats added in 2002-2003

6 CD changer for 02-03 Versus UGLY looking 99-01 Accord Style radio's which dont read burnt cd's.

Cup Holders in the 02-03 were revised and 100x better than the 99-01. (best 15$ i've ever spent!!!)

Steering wheel on the 02-03 Have the ACURA emblem on them.

1999 Was the only year for the 4spd tranny, and the 99 had Italic fonts on the guage cluster and the 99 had a honk when you would lock the doors insted foe the soft beep on the 00-03.

02-03 Headrests are bigger with a tilt feature versus 99-01.

Thats all I spotted for now!

You can always read Honda's press releases too, here's what they had to say about the TL for 2002..

http://www.hondanews.com/categories/...s?archive=2002

Its broken down into sections so you can get the details

By the way, you can look up most Acuras and Hondas from 1990 onwards.

In regards to '00 TL-P seats they are very soft. but the perferated seats look better.
my girl's dad has an 03 dark grey tl-s (I want it soooo bad) and it has the perferated seats and it's so much nicer than mine. but his seats are harder, so in the end I win.

and he smokes in his car, which is probably the worst thing you can do to an automobile...so respect down for him

and the 02-03 has the most amazing feature. the revised front :-(

02-03 AUTO drivers side window up and down, vs 99-01 ONLY Auto Down.

02-03 Heated mirror buttons are an orange LED vs 99-01 RED LED.

Forgot to add;

02-03 has an LED light to light up the coin tray under the radio, while 99-01 has no lighting.

I've got the wood grain knob also but I bought mine. Still have the leather one if anyone wants it. Still looks brand new.

The shift plate on the 99's is chrome underneath the paint.

I like the hidden windshield spray nozzle, it's so easy for car wash when you run the spong across the hood. The same for front license plate, relocate the license plate would make it easy for washing the front bumper; if you haven't seen dead bugs on the bumper after driving across states.

I think the use of fabric lining on the interior pillars is just for better cosmetic comparing to plastic lining.
