Did someone say changing O2/Oxygen sensor was easy?

So there are two of them. One in the cat and the other upstream a little. I first tackle the rear one in the cat and if it weren't for the invention of the impact wrench, i don't think that was coming off (I think running the engine so it heats up helps a little too).

So not I'm doing the one in the front. Holy cow, that connecter is way the heck up there, I can't even get my hand in there. I've seen super long long-nose plier at Sears - would that do it?

How you guys do it?

if your wrench starts to slip and u see it stripping the edges, STOP. what i did when that started to happen is get some vice grips and make sure that their on their tight.

For the front one, you need very long screw drive to release the O2 sensor wire clip from clip holder then trace back to top near engine there you can pull out the wire that holding the old O2 sensor and change it with new one. Backward everything and done.

Impact wrench on a O2........... Get the appropriate box wrench size and slip it over it. A good strong tug and it will come loose. The front one is easier than the rear one. The rear placement of the connector is worse than the front one

When i did the rear, I used an O2 offset socket, a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter, a 1/2 rachet, and a sledge. It wouldn't move, but it did shake my exhaust system all over the place. That's when I decided to warm up the engine and exhaust and get the impact out. With that I used the regular O2 socket with the slit in it. Worked okay.

Thanks for the suggestions on the front. I'll have to try it next time I get a chance.

Right on w/ the get at it from the top. Front connector was a bit of a pain. 5 mins of trying to remove the connector I found unscrewing the 10mm nut first, helped. Them Sears 10mm racheting, adjustable, box wrences were great here since there was little room.

O2 sensor came out easier than rear.

Thanks all
