I'm around Arlington Hts. IL area...

I bought my TL-S at woodfield acura 3 weeks ago and .... well, I'm trying to upgrade my fog lights to HID. Yesterday I took out the fog light and I studied carefully, even the place where the fog light goes in. I just need to find a space for Ballast some where back of the fog light and that's why I need the bumper out.

If Ballasts are waterproof, I think it will work!!! I wrote an email to this people http://www.autolamps-online.com/gasd...e/totalkit.htm to give me some feed back and they wrote this...

"Dear Mike, unfortunately it is not possible to check your request as there is no data to hand regarding this new model, normally it is not possible to convert a fog lamp because there is physically no room to fit the D2 HID lamp (on the 9006 it is longer by some 1/2 cm and the return wire has to be at least 5mm clear of any metal part in the headlamp and must not touch the lens). The same must be checked with your Passat as again the D2 HID lamp is in this case 15mm longer than the halogen and the same applies to the clearance when fitted. We would recommend that you check these points before spending your money, we do, of course offer an exchange or refunds policy and our terms are
published and accessible from the home page, to assist you here is the link http://www.autolamps-online.com/terms.htm We would hope to welcome you as a new Autolamps-online Customer and
pleasecontact us further with your findings and any other questions you may have. Thank you for your enquiry to Autolamps-online.

Well, our fog lights are different than other ones and it has alot of room for this HID lamp kit($600) to fit. Anyway, oppss, sorry this is so long... I'll let you know when i find out the result.

Mean while, I install Philips BlueVision 9005 (not original 9006 size) bulb into the fog lights and it made some differece. It is brighter for sure (comparing w/stock 9006 bulbs). It is 65W and each bulb cost about $9. Not Bad. Thanks to TypeSDragon guy idea. But I still want to try HID... Any input thoughts or idea regarding on this issue?

That's where I bought mine. Which salesman/Sales manager did you deal with? How was your experience?

That did right by me and treated me well, but when I sent a friend of mine there a while later when he was shopping for a "S" he felt that were jerking him around on his trade.

Although I'm not sure what he was expecting, he was trading in a '00 300M with 55K miles.

thanks for replying back so quick...
Yeap, the sales man was george something.. and the manager was John something... sorry, I forgot. Sales people are same as other car dealer. They didn't like how I started from the invoice price. the final out the door price was invoice + 5% + tax + destination. I knew I could have gone down to 4% but I didn't. 30minues of dealing back and forth was enough for me. I know some of you can sit there for hours and bring it down to like 3% or 2% over the invoice, but supply is low they wouldn't do it. oh well...

by the way, there is a Type S review by MotorWeek showing on the TV. I think it's on WYCC channel 20 at 7pm tonight (chicagoland). so don't forget to watch or record the program.

oh well, I guess i have to make a trip to acura dealer and ask them the instruction on how to take the bumper out since no one is crazy like me for some reason... he he

Mike.

To take the front bumper off you'll need 3 tools. 1 wrench (i forgot the head size) for 2 bolts, 1 on each side, a phillips screwdriver for 4 screws, 2 on each side, and a flathead screw driver to pry the clips out. Just remeber, when removing the front bumper, you also remove the grill part with it, so dont force these two apart. If you have the front lip, dont pry that off the bumper either, it should all come off in one piece. As for installing a CAI without removing the front bumper, I'm not quite sure how you did it unless you either, took the wheel well off (which i think is more work) or slip it under and worked blind behind the underbody plastic covering.

Yeah, same guys I dealt with. I think it was Georage Sarkanian (sp?) and John Maloris. I kind of had the same thing, they were way off initially and it didn't seem like they were going to budge. There were no arguments and they didn't give me any "line" or try to insult my intelligence with ignorant comments. I guess it was as friendly as an experice can be. Only when I was walking out the door and asked for the keys to my car did they relent.

My friend that I mentioned dealt with George, but a different Sales manager. We all know the Sales manager is the guy who really does the deal.

I ended up getting it for 4% over invoice, but that was early in the year and the '02s were coming, so I'm sure they were willing to deal a little more then. I also ended up getting my first oil change for free and a year of free car washes. I don't know how often I'll take them up on the car washes since I don't live near there, but we do have an office nearby that I visit on occasion. So I may use the washes on occasion.

Chris in the Service Department is a good guy. Really treated me well when I took it in to get to warranty items fixed, both bulletins issued by Acura. Rotor warping and windshield wipers smearing.

Good Luck!
