Destroyed 3 tires and a wheel last night. (explicit languange inside)
Ok ok so this funny thing happens right....
US 19 down here was widened and an extra lane added. However, at 2 of the intersections, the newly opened 4th lane becomes a turn only lane at the intersection, but some people decided to ignore the turn only signs and pass everyone by using these lanes as a through lane. Which, of cource is dangerous.
So what does the Department of Transportation do to prevent this? Do they pull people over? noooooo... Do they install those plastic things on the white lines that are harmless? NOOOOOO...
THEY INSTALL THESE FUCKING THINGS:
Imgaine taking a bowling ball, and cutting it in half. Then bolt each half to the ground. These are STILL BIGGER THAN THAT.
Tottaly non reflective.
They are at all 4 points of both of the intersections i am talking about.
BUUUUT, this one, the one i needed to be in, was so much worse. Instead of placing them ONLY HERE (see pic) to prevent people from blowing through the intersection:
THEY PUT THEM 100 FEET BACK so people that actually want to turn get FUCKED.
I needed to make that right, and i was waiting for a procrastinating driver to pass me, then i switch to the turn lane, and BBBBAAAAAMMMMMM!!!!!!
Mother fuckers. This cant be legal.
I pulled over to check for damage, i was impressed that the 4 inch tall boulders bolted to the road didnt kill anything.
Then, later, i see this:
BUT NOT ON ONE WHEEL, OH NO THAT WOULD BE TOO FUCKING EASY.
ITS ON 3 FUCKING WHEELS.
3 out of 4 tires are destroyed, they look like the one above.
One of the wheels is obviously bent. This is going to be expensive.
I mean, what if a fucking kid on a motorcycle hits one of those? If hes not dead, hes gunna be hurt something bad.
Im looking for legal recource at this point, theres just no way in HELL this is legal.
As i was taking pictures at 2AM this morning, I watched as a Ford Expedition NAILED 3 or 4 of these things, lost control, and almost hit the curb.
Approximatly 225,000 people pass through that intersection EVERY DAY. I cant be the only person that has done this.
So now the stock wheels are back on. Yay. And i dont have the $$$ to buy 4 new tires and a wheel. So i have 4 nice shrome wheels in my garage. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Im just going to return the car to stock, casuse this is bull shit.

wow thats fargin incredible, remind me to stay out of florida, thats assnine, have to say the florida dot is in for a hell of alot of law suits. Feel sorry for the poor bastard that hits one in a crotch rocket, he would be history. I'd definatley send the DOT a repair bill & tell them you have retained a lawyer & a suit is pending. I'd be going postal if that happened to me. Dirty Rotten Bastages. Good luck guy & nail em

call up the local tv station they'll get a kick out of that, make sure its the one who has the guy who does the dateline type journalism, calls up the state finds out whats going on, tries calling people and says we called "insert person here" but they wouldnt return our messages . you should be able to seek damages on that, a friend of mine was following a construction truck when one of those barrels flew out the back and nailed his car the state payed for that.

Alright, I sent this link over to one of my best friends.. who's a lawyer.. and jewish... :-D ... and this is what he assessed. I didnt' agree but here it is.
Unfortunately it is totally LEGAL for the state to put those things in that area for the white lines, since your not suppose to be driving in there any ways. If they want to, they can put Spike Strips there too, and it would be totally legal, so it will be hard to get a legal suit out of this.
However, w/ a good lawyer you can argue the validity of such a thing in that area, and try to claim some money for your damages. He told me that you should file a claim with the Deparatment of Transportation.
Bottom line those stupid things are totally LEGAL. Their argument will be why were you breaking the law dirving in that area, so be prepared to answer that question. If you reply with you swerved to avoid an accident, then their response would be ok, we should've put guard rails there instead which would've still caused you body damage.
I dont know.. i kno this isn't prolly wat you wanted to hear, but this is the info I got for you.

damn that sucks. I was actually thinking the same thing though. If there's a white line, technically your not supposed to be driving there, but people do. I hope you get something out of this. I'd call a new station and tell them about it. One day you should just sit there with a video camera and see how many people hit these things.

I have no doubt in my mind that "that sort of thing" is legal, HOWEVER these are completely non-reflective, and after some research, i found that regulations stated by district 7 (my area) of the florida department of transportation says that something like that would have to be reflective, and its not.
Even if im screwed, and i cant get compensated for this, it still scares me to see them, and i have already enrolled in the next district 7 DOT meeting, and the Community Traffic Safety Team meeting.
People in this area have to be pissed about this, and im going to make sure im the asshole that steps up and says something about it...
I mean, seriously, what if a kid on a motorcycle hits them? Whats the county going to say? "darrrrr you shouldent have been on the white line darrrrrr"????? people in this county are going to have a heart attack about that... might as well say "yeah the kid on the bike illegealy changed lanes, so we killed him".

I totally agree with you Darkshear.. with enough publicity and tactical plan, you can get compensated for your damages. Its a stupid law which is totally illogical. Let me know if there is ne thing else I can find out for you.

Here’s how she looks now.
She’s probably going to stay this way. The stock wheels have brand new tires on them; they are just a little bent so permanently out of balance, which I can deal with. I honestly have no desire to spend even more money on 4 new tires to put the Katana's back on, just so they can get scratched, stolen, bent, or fucked up in some other way.
In fact, I really have no desire to do anything more. This car has been nothing but a burden since the day I got it.
I imagine I will be returning the car fully to stock very shortly and just dealing with the car, the way it’s supposed to be.
Prob just fix the one dented wheel and eBay the fuckers. I’m done dumping money in to this pit. Fuck this thing.

get as much publicity as you can!!! Radio shows, TV stations, news papers... Have those poeple express your concerns. Laws have been rewritten with huge public pressure. and in your case, you may get compensated for the damage. It will be a long battle though, so prepare to dedicate time to it. Teach those DOT morons a lesson...

Your cars still looks sick with or without your rims. You put so much time and money into it, why would you bring back to stock. So you had a little bad luck with it lately, that shouldn't matter when someone walks up to you and tells you what a nice car it is.

That is painful to look at. I'm sorry you had to go through that, man. Last year I hit a giant pothole and messed up one of my tires so I know how you feel, times 3.
Definitely file a claim with the Department of Transporation, and it looks like you already contacted a lawyer. Good luck with everything and let us know how it goes.
