Heat up the lettering with a hair dryer (or good 'ol sun will work too on a really hot day). Then gently remove each letter (some even suggest dental tape to cut through). If the double-sided tape is still there, then a grease remover like "Goo Gone' or WD40 should do the trick. After doing that -- take some car wash and make sure you remove any leftover cleaner. Use a wax or polish to protect the clearcoat.

Yeh its very easy.
1. Get a hair dryer and heat up the letters/numbers.
2. Use dentalfloss. Put it between the paint and the numbers. Slowly go back and forth with it untill the letters come off.
3. Use you thumb and rub off the excess glue. And done

i used Bug and Tar remover and soaked the remaining glue with it. then, i scratched it off with my nails. next, i used Meguiar's swirl remover to smoothe out the scratches left by my nails. then, i used Mother's polish to shine the area and then Mother's wax to protect it.
