Debadging

Hey guys. Just one question. Is there any other way to debadge the car without using any chemicals or things like that? Other than prying it off with a screwdriver or something?

Heat gun or a hair dryer and fishing line. Dental floss is good but it breaks too easily, fishing line does a nice cut across the glue. Then some Goo Gone and a little muscle to clean off the glue.

Like stated....some dental floss or fishing line and a hair dryer is all I needed. After some minor clean up after...some wax and it was all good.

Why, WHy, WHY????

Why would you want to 'debadge' your car? Is it the "cool" thing to do? It only lowers the value of the car and severly limits who would want to buy your car in the future! Don't do it! You'll only drop the value of your car by $500 or more.

You might as well crash the front end into a pole, paint the car hot pink and wear a pair of Speedo cut shorts to a biker bar! :gheywave: That's my 2 cents on it.

we are talking about the 3.2TL badge in most cases, and some like to remove the acura letters. That gives a nice clean look to the trunk- no key hole, no lettering- we dont need no stinkn badjezzzzzs!!!

The big round emblem is mounted thru the trunk with 2 bolts- you can turn it over and it fits that way too.

Debadge is cool because it gives you stealth- what kind of car was that???
If you think having 30 bucks of decoration on the back changes the resale value.... some years from now- (for the few willing to EVER part with their TL), its simple to buy and install brand new shiny letters for the car.

Its about personalizing the car-
maybe you want a free mod that makes yours easier to find in the parking lot without drawing attention to itself~

Not to mention, you can put 'em back on later if you want to.

There is actually some history to debadging (or purported history).

IIRC, it started in Europe when people driving high end Bimmers and Benz's took off their badges to attract less attention and/or "disguise" their model designations. Later, lower end Bimmer and Benz owners started doing it to infer their cars were of a higher status.

The rest, as they say, is history.

It's definitely cool LOL! 2g TL aren't well known cars so it is kinda stealthy too hahah....When I got mine it was already debadged....the guy just left the "Type-S" on which looked kinda funny....but luckily for me someone came along and debadged that for me LOL. Now it's clean.

When I went to Europe, I was surprised to see that every car is debadged there. My cousin drives a 5 series BMW and I asked which one, there's no badge he was like, they never come with badges. He has a Fiat as well and that also didn't have a badge either.
I personally think it looks nicer and cleaner...and like everyone said, you can still put it back on.

It does recieve attention. people around here thinks my car is an Accord, TSX, TL Type S because of the tailights, sidemarkers. Actually i went to a car meet in Kansas City a while back and the acura guys out there was like, "man maybe we should debadge all the TL's"
Anyways though, looks clean without them, then if you change your mind you can always buy them and reattach them.
