Debadging

Hey guys, Along with changing some small things, like shift knob and such I was thinking about debadging the back of the car and just leaving the "Acura logo" and taking off the "3.2TL" and the word "ACURA" badges off? Will it wreck the paint if I take them off? And what is the proper way to removing these while still leaving the paint under/around the badge in good condition? Also, one more question? Should I even debadge it? I want to do something unique, but don't want my car to look ricey. Whats your opinion on debadging? Thanx

I also thought about possibly buying another 3.2TL badge and putting it right behind the front wheels on the door, just like the "V12" badge for the Mercedes...Is it C-Class? Not sure but just a thought..Might look tacky.

do a search, you will find many results on debadging. basically heat up the glue underneath and take a piece of floss and run it under the badges "cutting" them off. goo gone to get rid of excess sticky stuff and then buff/polish area to remove "ghosting".

Thanx for da tips. My brother was dumb enough to accident drive the right front of my TL into the mailbox good thing its only a sanding and painting deal so no body damage, just paint..so if the debadging doesn't work out they can prolly fix it when I take it in.

Also thinkn about whether to take off the "ACURA" word and the "3.2TL" or just the "3.2TL" one, cuz I could prolly just take that one off and maybe put it somewhere in the cockpit..Maybe the CD Holder thing with some 3M tape, but I don't want to make my dash look tacky, cuz I'm currently working on an interior conversion by swapping all wood trim with polished chrome/brushed aluminum. I'll also throw in a B&M chrome polished shift knob and that chrome 3.2TL might not be a bad idea...Lots of options cuz its spring break in a day and schools out soon.

I just debadged mine. It was easy some warm water, dental floss, goo gone, and a lot of buffing. I took it all off except the A logo. I had a few paint chips behind there. I believe it was from my bass shaking the trunk too much that caused that.

Thats pretty much what I was thinking only the 3.2TL badge instead. Yours looks nice but I think that being the only thing chrome and for how big it is I don't really have to much to favor for doing the whole Acura word...I mean it says acura like 30 times on all the interior so I dont anyone to really find out the obvious way u know...

I debadged the 3.2TL and TypeS badges within a couple weeks of getting my car. Probably the simplest "mod" you can do to you car...I use the term lightly because it's barely a modificaction. The badges are somewhere around the house, I think...

Just got done debadging the acura and 3.2TL logos...For anyone that wants a perfect...i mean perfect finished product from debadging do the warm water (blow dryer didnt do much) then rumb it really hard with goo gone...now I realized the goo gone doesnt strip the tape or access goo it just makes it more moist then I did somethin differently after the laborous process of trying to strip the goo from beneath the badge I broke a nail... so I said o what the heck I went and got some tweezers....MAGIC...they don't scratch the paint cuz they have a rounded edge so you can just graze the goo right off...then I just applied some Nu Finish Buffer and it was gone in an instant...just like the T.V. commercial Now I'm thinkn about removing the mud guards...

Heey so I got rear ended and when the shop fixed my trunk...they kinda put my "A" emblem upside down -_-. So I'm just wondering how to get the "A" off without damaging anything. Do I have to open the trunk and do something through the inside? Or is it just a simple pluck off?
