Dealer oil change
I find that changing the oil on the dealer is safe. They use new certified oil for the Honda engine. On the other hand, I had Pep Boys change the oil to my Subaru with Mobil 1 Syntetic and who knows if that's what they put. I can't tell the difference, just can tell that I was charged for it.
I'll tell you what I do, since my apartment complex won't let me change my oil in the parking lot.
I go to Wal-Mart and pick up a 5 quart jug of Syntec, then I go to AutoZone or somewhere and get the filter I want (most of the times I get a Bosch, but if they don't have that I spring for a Mobil-1).
Then I found a good independent shop. The guy charges me $5 to have some kid put my car on a lift and put my oil in. Window into the shop from waiting room = extra bonus. This "bring your own oil" thing doesn't work with Firestone shops because the guy told me he is factory owned and has to use his.
But if you're getting them for free from the dealer, no problems with free! Just info for when those free changes run out.
