Thumbs up Dealer bragging

Just wanted to waste some bandwidth about my dealer...

First though, the local Acura dealer in Savannah is a complete jerk. It's MSRP or no deal. Originally offered these guys $1000 less the sticker on a 2002 TL-S and you'd have thought I had insulted their mothers' honor. Anywho...

The dealer I bought my TL-S from (Acura of Orange Park in Jacksonville, FL) has been great from the moment I emailed them what I wanted and what I was willing to pay. I even email photos of my trade in and they gave me exactly what I wanted for my trade. No back & forth negotiations, just straight talk, no runaround, and a fair price. The car had dealer installed options they threw in for free. When we went to pick up the car, we were in & out of the dealership in a little over and hour.

The one thing they've done that really makes me glad I bought from them was the "compensation" I got for a factory boo-boo. You see, just as we were about to drive off the lot with our brand new TL-S, the wife noticed a minor dent just above, and in between, the right side doors (kinda in the roof area). The service manager looked at it and felt it could be removed by one of those dent remover guys. Unfortunately the dent is in an area that has steel beams underneath that's part of the safety cage. The only option (other than another car) was to have a body shop repair it which I was opposed to. It was determined that the dent was done during manufacturing since there was no physical evidence otherwise - i.e. no scratches or scuffs in the paint. The wife & I decided that since the dent was almost unnoticeable (you have to be looking for it to see it) we would leave it alone. However, I told the dealer that some kinda "compensation" would be a nice gesture. He asked what I wanted and I said the 4 piece factory ground effects kit would be nice. And that's what they did - no questions asked. So yesterday they installed it and my baby has a new look.

Guess I can use the money I saved on some CompTech goodies.

Its great that the dealer helped you out, but for those who are extremely anal such as I, I would know that dent was there, and everytime I washed it, the dent would bug me. Therefore I would have refused the car and insist on another, despite the inconvenience.

Hahaha, Yeah, no joke!!

after they pissed on it for you they would wash it with sand paper. Man, southern CA dealers can be a real group of punks. I would be amazed if the dealer threw in accessories at no charge. Thats like an act of GOD!!

Damn, next time I buy a car, I'll make sure I put a little dent in it before I drive off the lot.

I agree with you BLEXV6. And had we not processed the paperwork, written the check, lived in the local area, and they had another noble green metallic, we woulda pushed for a different car. Besides, we were headng off on a Christmas trip in less than 6 days. I know, I know...excuses, excuses. But you're right, it does bug me every so often. Fortunately, the older I get the less I fuss over the small things in life.

Actually, the dealer gave us time to be alone to decide what we wanted to do and we concluded it wasn't bad enough to warrant killing the deal. And in hindsight, we made the right decision.

Besides, everyone knows that once your car gets a dent, it loses it's appeal to the evil dent monster who passes by your vehicle in search of virgin sheet metal.
