The other day, I saw a nice shiny TL and on the rear left side, I saw this nasty badge that had the dealers logo on it..

WTF?? I think the car was from VA. I have never seen any cars from Cali with this on, is this an East cost thing?
And it wasn't like the Acura badges, it looked like it was either paint or a sticker of some kind.

I would be pissed if they tried to put that on my car. Anyone have this on the TL??

I was just looking at one the other day but it wasn't a TL. I thought how pissed I would be if they put that on a TL and it had to be removed.

I think it's unnecessary.

Maybe a license plate frame, but not a sticker.

Mine had a chrome dealer logo on the back of the trunk in the shape of the state of Texas. Took it off before I drove off the lot, and also the liscense plate frame in back. Of course, the whole front plate and mounting bracket had to go before I left the lot, too!

my dealer left this bunch of sticker type letters over the left corner of the trunk
the font was the same as acura's font but its like this plasticky crap that I immediately took off. the front license plate and frame got yanked off too. the only thing I left the was the rear license plate frame. and I'm on the east coast too! so dang, it must be an east coast thing!

i agree i would be fuming if a local dealer put one of those stupid badges on my car. Although I have no problem with park ave acura plate frames on my car, they do a great job and i dont mind the free advertising on my car

here in MN 90% of cars new and used have dealer tags on them (sticker, badge, plate frame) mine luckily didn't...

A few FYI's: In MA. it is now illegal to have plate frames that cover ANY part of the text or stickers on the plate (ain't that a ***** for the dealers!)

My uncle bought a new Dodge Ram, and specified no badging. The rear gate came with a dealer badge. He ***** because when they pulled it off, it ruined the paint. He got a new lift gate and two years of oil changes for free. So if it there, just complain and see what they will do.

Same here, whenever I've purchased a car from a dealer I ask them to remove all dealer badging. The plate frames I don't mind b/c they look decent. Plus, they come off 2 days later after I get my new ones!!

My dealer has gotten into the habit of not putting on the decals until after the car is sold. That way, if you request "NO decals" or it turns into a dealer trade he doesn't have to remove anything.

The license frame is useful when it comes to getting the vehicle serviced. Dealers seem to treat their own customers a little better than just anyone off the street. Hey, you can always take it off between service visits!

Yep, new from dealer last year. I forgot to ask them not to put it on so I can't complain. The lady gave me crap when she saw, and I was like, "I'll leave it on for $50 per month" and she just laughed.

Same with me....all of my new cars have specific instruction that no dealer ads be attached to the car. They still sneak in the license plate frame, but thats ok...I can take care of that. My brother actually refused delivery of a car he ordered once because they had drilled through the trunk lid and attached their "logo plate" with screws! Can you imagine? Drilling into the car....geeze!

In NY, it's illegal to cover the plate in any way too...the plate frames are ok, providing they don't block and words or letters..

It takes off anything. Then after the decal is off, wax that area real good.

I found out about this law when I bought my TL, and specifically requested NO BADGE. Our salesman told us it was now illegal, and that they hadn't done it for years regardless. (Another reason to like Clair!)

Now I find I notice them all the time. There's a VW dealer in Quincy (Quirk) who still puts them on all their cars. If you live in the Boston area, check out the next few Passats or Jettas you see...

My boss has a '99 silver TL and it still has the "Marin Acura" badging on the left hand side of the trunk. They're plastic-y letters stuck to the trunk. When I saw that, it reminded me to firmly tell the dealer to not put any badging on my car. I already got rid of the license plate frames that has the dealer logo on it. I notice here in the San Francisco area that 90% of the cars still have some kind of dealer advertising on it.

Black2000 is right - I was just looking at my paperwork and the invoice has a box to check to allow the dealer to put on a badge - I'm certain that my Corolla had that box too.... Clair (Acura in Walpole) doesn't badge - they know not to mess with a thing of beauty..........
