Well I did not think it was going to happen to me but it did. Last Monday my check engine light and the TCS light came on in my 01 TL. About 2 hours later the trans was slipping really bad. Reving up about 6,000 RPM and the car was only going about 30. Hard to beleive that it could happen so fast. The car only has 28,300 miles on it. Luckily I was close to home and had it towed from there.

Well I got it back in under a week. I have to give praise to Castle Acura in New Castle Delaware. These guys treated me just right. Gave me a loaner car while mine was in the shop. They were unable to provide me with one from the lot and rented me a 03 Spyder from Enterprise.

Im wondering now how long will this one last. Has any one confirmed whether Acura has clearly fixed the problem? I have read the report that Acura furnished to the National Highway Safetly Assc. In it states that they knew of the the 3rd clutch plate problem and that is has been fixed. However, Im reading here of people going through 2 or 3 transmissions.

This is a great car, but I don't want to worry about transmission problems every 2 years or so.

i had mine replaced 2 times but the firs one was before there was a known issue, and a update. since getting the 2nd one it feels much better with its shifts. i guess only time will tell

I moved to Delaware last year. Previously, my dealer was Marty Sussman Acura in Mapleshade. They were bar none, the best! BUT I have to agree that Castle Acura in Delaware is kick ass too! I usually dealt with Dominic, but he left for better and greater things on Sat, ah well...
