Angry Dash rattle behind drivers vent/gauge cluster

I tried to do a search again, but it's not working with the new board. Three weeks ago I got a ton of posts in a search for dash rattle. Anyway, I have two rattles that are driving me freakin crazy. 1st is a clicking sound (kinda like stiff leather against stiff leather)behind the left drivers side vent. 2nd one is a clunk sound coming from behind the gauges. Usually at 30+ mph over road grade changes (uneven pavement). 2nd one sounds like something (like the whole f'in dash) is loose.

Any fixes?? Yea, I know - TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY. But you know what? 95% sure they will say these exact words after a test drive = "We didn't hear anything" :banghead: Those service guys must be deaf, so BEFORE I take it back to the dealer, I need to see if anyone has any suggestions.

I remember seeing a post like a month ago in which someone took out the gauge cluster and found that some wires were vibrating against metal, but I can't find it. Had pics too.

Thanks.

I'm with ya on this one. I really notice it when hitting railroad tracks. I'm hoping someone has an answer.

Yea...i've had the same rattle for quite some time, and everytime I take it to the dealer they say they can't hear it. Mine goes away under warmer weather, but when its cold, i definitely hear it and it annoys the crap out of me. And now my warranty is up!

same here guys ... I've had my TL for only a year, and noticed it only rattles when the weather is cold. Now that it's spring over here in NYC, I haven't heard the rattle since.

My father had the same problem and the same response from the service guys. He doesn't take "no" very well, so after the third visit in as many days, they did hear it and fixed it. I will get a hold of him later today and ask him for more details. I'm stationed in Turkey and there is a 7 hour time split.

if you can reproduce this sound when you're driving... tell you dealer to get a technician to take a drive with you... good luck

i have the same thing..
it seems like it is a rattling, high up..behind the driver side vent.

something tells me it is a worn shock or a ball joint issue.

Mine is rattling just above the Nav screen. The service manager at the dealership heard it too. They ripped apart the entire dash (3rd time in to fix it). It was quiet for 2 days then started back up again. It's driving me crazy as well.
