Dark or light color?

I have a WDP TL-S & have to wash it at least once a week to keep it looking good. Bugs, mud, bird droppings & rock chips are very visible on this light color and I wished that I had choosen another color.

I have never had a dark color car b/f & read that these are high maintenance too. Are they? It seems that more of the street dirt will "blend in".

So what is a good color for low upkeeps? Silver?

Dark cars have their issues too

Swirl marks show up easier on Dark cars...but with a dark color and some good detailing you can really bring out depth and shine to the color. Becuase Light colors are not as reflective the same amount of detail work will not produce the mirror like look (don't get me wrong it will be shiney shiney but optics laws make it harder to get that mirror like look).

I have a WDP as well... and I agree its big PITA to keeping it looking good. But I mean I do it ne wayz..but I feel your pain. I had a Silver 99 Accord before this... and that was the easiest to maintain, cuz even if there was a few specs of dirt it wasn't as visible as it is here. But I love the color and car, as this color makes it look classy IMO. Also... I dont see that many WDP on the road.. so I like mine standing out .. of the billions of TL's I see every day. Right now is the worst to keep it clean.. i washed my car the other day when it was like 30 degrees outside.. it wasn't fun but it had to be done.. cuz there was dirt and snow all over.

Actually mine's a WDP too and while I agree that even a little dirt on the car makes it look lousy you've also gotta hand it to the light color to hide the dreaded swirl marks that show up on dark colors. Whenever I wash my car and end up using my fingernail to scrap off dead bugs on the bumper and hood, I am grateful that its a white car. Try doing that with a dark color and you'll leave noticable marks on the clearcoat. With WDP, the marks are probably there, but you'll just never see 'em. Sure, you can use bug & tar remover and all that, but if you don't have more than about 45 min total to hand wash your whole car, you just can't beat the fingernail over a bug & tar remover or a claybar!!

And incidentally, I used to have a black car, and if someone gently brushed up against it in the garage (like my young daughter walking by it) when it was anything other than freshly washed, it would leave fine scratches that took forever to buff back out. So again I say AMEN to the white paint!

Thank you all for your replies that was very insightful. I guess I never thought about the swirlmarks & light scratches that are easily visible on a dark car b/f.

It now eases my mind a little in knowing that WDP isn't that hard to maintain.
