Danger of installing a trailer hitch on a dropped TL?

Hey Guys,

I'll be moving to another state soon and I am thinking about renting one of those trailers from U Haul.

My concern is, would I be able to successfully haul one of those small trailers if my car is dropped (i have coilovers installed)? I am planning on purchasing the hitch from Hidden Hitch.

Also, if I purchase the hitch, what else would I require? I know that I will need to buy a wire harness. Is there a special hitch ball that I would need to buy?

Also, would driving from chicago to new york be too much for my car to handle when hauling the trailer?

Any inputs would be grateful.

Thanks,
Kevin

Man, I dunno about that one...Kris has pulled a trailer with his, but not sure if it was for long distances and not sure if he's dropped. I wouldn't do it with my TL, at least long distances that is. At most, maybe tow a jet ski or something. The tongue weight on those uhaul trailers aren't that bad. If anything, raise the coil overs to the highest level in the back so the trailer weight brings it back level so you don't drag the hitch..maybe that would help.

Also, the TL has a wire harness in the rear left or right housing that you should be able to tap right into.

When backing up the trailer, put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and turn the trailer where you want to go, my Pops taught me that and it works well

All depends on what size trailer you get. The smaller one the car will handle just fine. Nothing special is needed

Honestly, it might work better to rent a UHaul moving van and a car trailer, and use the Uhaul to tow the TL over.

thanks for the response guys.

I'm still debating what I should do, rent a uhaul truck and tow the car or tow using the small trailer (5' x 8', or should i go smaller to 4' x 8'?).

Also, if I tow my car and drag the 2 rear wheels, would my car scrape in the back if i hit a slight bump? since i'm dropped.
