Damn Maintenance Light

I was wondering if this normal for our cars, it just does not seem normal to me since it has never happened to me before. Lately, my maintenence light blinks from the time I put the key in the ignition to about five seconds after I start the car. The light then will then go out, is this how this light is supposed to operate? I had an Accord before and in that car, the light and/or the little color changer came on and remained on till it was reset.

So what is the deal with this? Does the maintenance light come on and stay on in our cars or does the light come on and then turn off? By the way i have a '03 TL-S. I tried to do a search on this, but to no avail....

I may be a little off on the exact mileage, but I believe it does that every 6000 miles from the time it was last reset. From 6000 to 7000 it blinks, and after 7000 it will just stay on. It's normal, you just need to reset it.

To reset it, turn the key to run and hold down the select and reset buttons for the odometer. After holding the buttons for a few seconds the light should go out.

But remember, it will come back on every 6k or so miles.

No. I forgot, you need the two buttons pushed in before you turn the key to the run position.

I always get the temp adjustment and maint light reset mixed up. You did wait till the alternating number went back to 0 before you released the buttons, right? If not, you should adjust your temp sensor back.

turning the key and then holding the trip and reset buttons adjusts the outside temp gauge. to reset the maint light you neet to press and hold teh buttons then turn the key to the run position. it takes about 10 seconds but once the light goes off they are reset
