Damn, I think my tranny is gonna go....

Hey guys, my D5 light is flashing after I take it outta the Park position! Technically, what does this mean and how can I drive like this? My work is only 2-3 miles away and I don't have time on the weekdays to have it serviced. I dont go over 3.5 rpms most of time. Anybody?

Well if its just flashing your alright for right now. But when it starts thumping and grinding, and carrying on like a jackass.... then your in for it. When that happens, take it on over to Acura and they'll put a new one in. I'm waiting on my second one to go anytime now.

You can certainly bring it in, whether or not they do anything with it (other than look) is a different matter all together.

I've had four tranny replacements in the last two years already, when i bring it in and say that something is wrong, they don't even look anymore, they just order a new tranny

So for flashing transmisson lights they can care less I take it. But the car in general is still under warranty, so they should be able to fix that type of problem right?

Basically this is my first, just a blinking D5. But there are horror storries which start out with a blinking D5 then progresses to something worse.

hmm, when my tranny went, i only noticed a difference probably like 2-3 days previous from when it actually crashed. altho my light wasn't blinking, i just noticed the shifting was all retarded, like it would hella hesitate when shifting, and also like it would downshift out of character and sounded almost as a manual does when the gears are being grinded. man, i hope ur tranny stays good, its a pain in the ass.

They are a pain in the ass to keep up. My local dealer is charging $180 for a tranny flush recommended every 15k. Thats ridiculous.

As for tranny signs, if there is any warning. Slipping gears, over revving. grinding noise, lights flashing on the dash. Just pray you ain't doing 60MPH on a freeway when it dies.

The tranny will get replaced. What can I expect out of this new tranny and will it be a refurb or new? Also, do you guys know if they will count the milage that's already on the car into the new tranny? Or will acura restart the this tranny at 0 miles?

Well my D5 light hasn't flashed once and 3rd gear is only working about 90% of the time. I'm taking it in to the dealer tomorrow.

The D5 flashing is a problem, i just went through the same problem and it cost me 500 bucks to repair...its the heat snesors around the tranny or a solanoid gone bad...i got the problem fixd and the car is fine now...500 bucks later...
