Post Daewoo / Acura Legend!

Check this site out: http://www.howard.co.kr/stocks/usedc...woo_sedan2.htm

It seems that Daewoo bought the old Legend design and produces it for other markets, at least they did until last year. Crazy! Also, take a gander at the "Chairman" model. Is that perhaps a re-badged Lexus LS400, or what, I can't seem to place it. Possibly, Daewoo wouldn't be going bankrupt if they offered the line pictured in the link above here in the USA...

I actually went to korea this past summer, and you are right there are alot of really nice cars made by daewoo, samsung, etc that look like the gs400, legend, mb's that we have in the US. I actually got a chance to drive the Korean "Legend" and its performance is similiar to my friends 95 Legend. Didnt get a chance to do anythin more than 70mph cuz the roads are really congested there, but ur right if they brought those higher end cars to the US they most likely wouldnt be goin bankrupt. I think its because hyundai and daewoo kia are known as "cheap" cars in the US and the companies dont think they will sell very many if they would sell a korean legend for 28k etc.

The Daewoo is not a real Legend, but Honda did sell the G2 Legend design rights to Deawoo to market up untill 99 I believe, under the Daewoo Arcadia name. It looks like a Legend, and shares the same structual and mechanical design. However, I am not sure if Honda actually sold them the parts, or they have a 3rd party that now makes the parts for the Arcadia. Reliability now plays a big factor here. For looks, I like it, but they do not offer the G2 Coupe version. Other then that, I'll keep my 93 and 95 Legends, and wont be trading in for a 99 Arcadia anytime soon, or forever for that matter

That's funny cause a couple years ago when I was in Korea i could have SWORN i saw a Legend, but I knew that no Korean would EVER buy a Japanese car, but I guess for companies it's different, heh..

I highly doubt one ever made it across the pond to the US. Rebadging might be a possibility, I hear the seatbelts in the Arcadia have Honda written on them just like my Legend. I belive it also only came in a 220hp version, more than the Type I's but less than the Type II's. I was just happy that they kept building the Legend past 95, shows how timeless the design is.

Interestingly enough, did you know that teh JDM built, and had in production the g2 Legend Coupe up until 1997? I think the 97 JDM Coupes even had Navigation, but not sure on that one. And this was when in 1996 with the introduction of the G1 CL, some dealers where pushing it as a Legend Coupe replacement. I had to remind a few of them that the G2 Legend Coupe was still being made.
