D5 flickering related to tranny?

Today I drove out of my work and got into a moderate jerk once. Soon after that I noticed that my D5 light was flickering. IT was getting dimmer and brighter as accelerate or slow down. Drove about 20 miles around also noticed that when I switch the turn signal on the dimming and brightening of D5 light follows turn signal rhythm.

I am not sure this D5 light existed before or not. I was just no paying attention.
Have any of you guys related these D5 light issue with transmission eventually failed?

the D5 usually flashes like 3 times on hard accelleration when the trans is going, other than that you dont see that indicator
Ar you getting any slipping clutch feeling?
what thud? as it shifts into 2nd and 3rd gears?

he means its toast- history- sayonara- its out of here- goodbye- its done!

you ask if it eventually failed- I waited for the day my D5 light did that, because now the dealer could see there was a problem- and I got my free replacement transmission.

Are you under 109,000 miles and less than 7 years plus 9 months since the car was first new?
You can call acura at 1-800-382-2238x5 and ask the date if you think its close, if you are driving a 2000 for example. You need the VIN number- that 17 digit number for the car
Call the local acura dealer in the morning and ask when you can get it in for a ~diagnosis~

yes, i did this homework well before buying it. Tranny changed once last year i believe, that is what service manager told me at the dealership i bought from.
02 TL-S with 95K so warranty should be fine. Only concern is that the dealership guys bitch about whether the failure is the really one that is covered under the warranty.
Anyone knows trusty dealershp in Seattle area? I normally go to Acura of Bellevue. Earlier I saw someone got a good experience at Acura of Fife, WA.

I just had the transmission replaced in my 02 TL-S that had 84k miles. The original transmission was showing signs of slipping. I took the car to Hinshaw's Acura in Fife (Tacoma). They test drove it on the lot and said I need a new transmission. They readily addressed the problem by ordering a new transmission the very next day. I had it installed, the car cleaned and ready for delivery in 4 days. The service team member I dealt with was named, Mike. A no hassle customer experience. And, the vehicle so far is shifting extremely smoothly. I posted about this experience earlier. Good luck on the replacement.

I haven't encountered anything wrong since then, the light flickering issue is still present. I am gonna see how far it will go.
I noticed that turning the headlight on will make the instrument panel lights dimmer as well as the tranny speed indicator light and turning off makes them brighter. Do you guys' do that?.

do you mean the differance between running with the park lamps on?- the dash lights come on with them- and then switching to full headlight low beams on? your dash light intensity changes then?
You know about the dash light brightness adjustment knob?

The trans are funny- the D5 will flash then be fine for a month. You may feel some slipping when trying to get on the freeway hard. Pay close attention to all the symptoms.
Acura dealers are happy to replace these when failed, and there is a list of known things it does to say its dead or dieing.
