D5 Blinking... took it to dealer

I took my '02 TL Type-S to the dealer yesterday because D5 was blinking. They told me it was an ATF Temp Control Sensor. They replaced it. They also did my timing belt too.... I guess that is factory recall.

Just some FYI for those who care.

Lata,
Bri

ya the timing belt tensioner affects a lot of the '02-'03 TL's, and TL Type S models.

You're lucky it was only the temperature control sensor, and not the whole tranny that had to get replaced.

Bri, do you know if they posted a service bulletin on it yet or made the recall public? how many days were you out of commission to get it done? thanks!

I dropped it off around 8:00am and the transmission and timing tensioner / belt (whatever was recalled) was done around 2:30 the same day. I'm pretty sure it's only a one day thing.

Lata,
Brian

PS. The D5 blinking light..... do you think the ATF Temp Sensor is completely unrelated to the weak transmissions we have? Has anyone concluded that when these transmissions fail, it's because the ATF Temp Sensor fails? Did that come out right.... did anyone get me there?

In other words.... could I have possibly saved my transmission? Or do they just typically fail regardless?

Just curious, but is the '02 TL engine an interference valve engine or no?

If there's a recall on it, why doesn't Acura owners link (from the Acura website) not show it when I log in? Anyone know?
