D2R and D2S bulbs

I know that we use D2S bulbs because we don't have
projectors, but I was just wondering what would happen
if we did put in the D2R bulbs?

ok, correct me if i am wrong. but i thought d2r is the reflective type, which is the one we have in our cars, and d2s is the projective type, the one that audi and bimmer use?

anyway, some guys here are using the projective type and so far so good. some say it's better and some say otherwise, however there is no fix conclusion which is better

Correction.....we use D2R's on our car (direct replacement) and D2S's are for projector headlights. You can put D2S's bulbs in w/a slight modification to it. You will need to create a new slot for it.

How hard the modification? What tools are needed?
Are the D2S better or you install them just for the fun of it?
Thanks

If you look at the pic I attached of D2S( which is not a direct replacement), look at the slot circled on right side. On D2R's that slot is located on the left side, which I circled and arrowed. By creating the slot on left, it helps the bulb slide into the plug and snap in. I used a dremel tool and created a slot on the left side.

Once you take out your stock (D2R's) and compare them w/D2S's, you will see the slot I'm talking about.

Car Freak or Hyde,
What was the outcome of the bulb switch? Same 'color' or different? Brighter, major difference or small?

Thanks
