Cup holder disappoinment
Is anyone else disappointed in the front seat cupholders? I can barely get one 32 oz drink in there let alone another one for my passenger. Does anyone know of a good looking after market cupholder that fixes the problem?
If you are shopping for an Acura TL and car about the cup holders, take cups with you when you test drive.

Geez, nice first post. BTW, welcome to the family. 
What year TL do you have. I have a 99 TL and I just bought the 01 cupholders to replace it. A lot of people have done this and they said that it does make a big difference. I haven't installed it yet but soon. I heard that a piece had to be cut off of the 01 cupholders for it to fit into a 99 TL. Is that true and what piece?

I know the 01 cup holder fits into 00, but there's a certain angle or you just can't put it in... yeah, it does piss me off. how much is it on internet? my dealer charges $89.95 for that damn cupholder... I say they're psycho...

Are you serious about the charge for the 01 cupholders? I bought mine at Park Ave Acura for like $6 dollars.

welcome acuraabq...I see you have a 2002. I have the 2000, and our cupholders are pathetic. Im assuming the 02 has the same holders as 01. If that is the case, Ill have to ask what drinks you hold in those spots, because after upgrading to the 01 cupholders, I couldnt be more pleased. I acutally use my cupholders for drinks rather than just a trash bin now.

Is your dealer out of his mind! That thing anyone ever pay for was no more than 9 bucks...some pay 6 up to 8...but no more. You should run over your sellsperson with your TL for being such a jerk. Anyway...I've took out my cup holder..which is an 01 and put it in the earlier model TL. It fits well, but if your a perfectionist you need to shave one end off a little so there are 2 notch and it will fit perfectly.

He is definetly looking at the wrong part number, he is probably talking about the whole cupholder assembly on the console...someone give him the part number so that they can just type that up in their computer, and then it should come out as 8 bucks or so...

The dealer probably charges for the insert and the part of the console that has the doors that pop open, because that part has the proper notches in it for the two little tabs everyone has been cutting off.
Maybe you ought to try the '99-'00 insert. It doesn't offer the support the new one does, but I think it will allow you to use larger cups. Since I put the new one in my '99 I've noticed that certain cups just don't fit as well as they used to. You won't need to do any modification to use the old one. Maybe someone around here has an old one they don't want any more.

Here is the cup holder assembly part # 77237-sok-ao2 This is for the 2001 cup holder assembly. Just trim or clip off the 2 plastic tabs on front end & the doors on the 99-00 will open perfectly when you put it in.
