Cruise Control help please

Cruise control stopped working on my 2002 TL sometime last winter, finally getting a chance to address it now.

The problem -- cruise control won't engage when trying to set it on the steering column, nor will any of the cruise controls work (accelerate, decelerate, etc etc). The "Cruise" light does come on when you turn on the cruise control.
Car operates otherwise normally.

Solution tries -- not much. :-) I tried reconnecting the battery (figured maybe something gets stuck in the communication), no luck. Tried lifting the brake pedal with my foot, no luck.

Any simple ideas? It feels like something dopey happened, just a hunch.

Thanks, Frank

does the ABS work? test it on a wet or gravel road
If not look at wheel speed sensors
You have looked at fuses,,tested with meter not just visual?

Ask a parts store for a code reading- its free,,dont tell them what light came on-
just ask for the reading

also remove the top plastic engine vanity cover, inspect throttle assembly
Some break the outer retainer for the cruise cable and it falls off or jams in the throttle
if looks good, test for motion to the cruise motor
both throttle and cc cable need internal lube now and then to slide smoothly

Follow up

When I first had the problem in the winter, the ABS complained for about a day, then the lights went away. Don't know if this was just coincidence (snowy/messy when I started having these problems). Lights or not, ABS works am pretty sure.

Wheel speed sensors -- where do I find them?

Code reading -- nothing comes back related, coincidence just had it done for a 1457 EVAP.

Throttle assembly a good idea, thanks.

Hey I think you were the gentleman that gave me some good insight to an ignition pack problem a year back or so. If so, thanks again and good to see you, hopefully your health is holding up.

Fixed!

Yep, the linkage came off, that's all it was. Plus it seemed like the cable was a little stretched so I readjusted (and was amazed those nuts weren't frozen), seems to grab CC better than before.

Thanks 01TL'. Now if only you had a 2003 MDX you could help me troubleshoot. :-)

the cables need a little slack in them ,,press down gently with thumb ~1/4 to 1/2 inch
cable deflection down before throttle moves

if cable came off- ck the ridge thats supposed to hold it from the outside edge
those have broken on a few cars here
