Question Cruise control does not set

Did a search but found one thread with not much info.

'03 TL-P. 108K (bought at 105K)
Had the timing belt changed over the weekend, but that killed cruise control (The repair guy has said he'll take a look and I plan to go over the next weekend, but...).

What happens is that if I turn off the Cruise button and turn it back on (or start the car for that matter), and then set cruise for the first time, the panel light comes on for a second and goes off again. Cruise isn't set.

After this first time, if I depress the set button, nothing happens. If I turn off the cruise in-dash button and turn it on again, it does the one-second thingy once and stays off after all over again.

Any easy problems anyone can think of?

Thanks
lsiravi

I would just check the connectors on the Cruise control actuator (Motor)
The guy probably D/C the motor and leaved something D/C after re-installing.

Yea, he probably took the Cruise Control box out during the T-belt job. Probably a simple fix like that. Kind of careless of the mechanic though...

Thank you, Skirmich and Karanx!

Sorry, but any pointers to where these connectors actually are? I haven't done a whole lot of work on cars other than filter changes, a spark plug here or there, and basic things like that

There is just 1 connector into the motor itself.. Just in front of it..
If you don't know which one is the Cruise control motor just follow the Cable that goes from the carb > locks in the Filter box > goes on top of radiator > ends in the Cruise motor < That's the Cruise control actuator.

It will have only 1 socket on it (Big one) and beneath it has a lock latch for the ABS Pump connector (Nothing to do with the Cruise itself)..

Turned out pretty simple in the end. I didn't go to the mechanic. Popped the hood, and found that a connector into a black box (about 5 in cube, I think) on the upper passenger side corner - away from you as you face the car - was dangling. COnnected it and good as it was before.

Thanks, Skirmich and Karanx for the help.
