Crazyness resetting my maint reqd light

Ok, so I changed my oil on my 03 Type S the other day and attempted to reset my Maint Reqd light. When you hold down the buttons to reset the light, I got a series of beeps and noticed the numbers on my outside temperature guage started to go up or down. I suppose I may have adjusted my outside temperature. Didn't know it did that. After that, I turned the car off and then held the buttons down, then turned to the "on" position. My maint reqd light went out. But I thought it was weird that I could adjust the outside temp. Any of you all experienced this>?

If you hold the two buttons for several seconds with the car on, it will adjust the correction factor of the outside temperature display. If you hold them down with the car off then turn the key, it will reset the Maintenance Required light. I don't recall, but I believe the temperature correction trick is listed in the owner's manual, too. Kinda neat.

It's in the manual. You can adjust the outside temperature +/- 3 degrees (maybe 5... don't remember exactly)

I've read through the manual and never noticed that the outside temp could be adjusted. Cool.

Maint rerd light

Yes, I'm admit I too lazy to read the manual. But again I like to chat with you folks at the forum. Can someone tells me the location of the RESET/SELECT buttons?
