A couple of concerns

Hi all,
I have been driving my new 2002 Acura TL-S for a few weeks now and I got two concerns. First, during acceleration especially between 1st and 3rd gear, I can really feel the car shifting gears. I mean physically. I have a friend who owns a 2002 TL and he told me shifting is very smooth on his car. Second, when I start my car, after I turn the key, I have to hold it for a few seconds before the engine startup. Are these normally? Or I am just over sensitive?
Thanks,
Harry

Hey Harry,
Congrats on the new car! About the gear-shifting: do you feel the gears shifting more or less when it's a cold engine and you just start to accelerate from zero? Usually, on cold starts, the tranny needs to warm up a little before the shifts become "seamless." Second, the startup -- the car should crank within two seconds -- I know cuz I happened to count one day cuz I was comparing it w/ my old '94 ES300. If you're holding it for MORE than those two seconds, let off the ignition, give it five seconds to cool down, and then try again. My car did that the first few weeks, and then I did what I told you, and it went away completely.
Lemme know how it turns out.
Pete
